  1. Yes looks a bit thinner to me too. I prefer those to be honest!
  2. Love this jam session - Flea, John Frusciante and Omar Rodriguez. It's intense and really showcases Flea's stamina. Ace.
  3. It was actually filmed as they recorded a live radio session. I found the whole session last night:
  4. They are exactly the reasons why I love it. Although I wouldn't call it ugly of course.

  6. I'll let the music do the talking.
  7. I would contact customer services again and demand your replacement neck immediately (replacement bass even for your trouble!) or you will hound Fender over every social media post with your story and a link to this thread which actually has pictures of your original neck. Also say that if they block you, one of your fellow basschatters will then continue posting on your behalf. Remind Fender that there are a lot of us! Let me know if you need my help and I'll happily oblige.
  8. If they don't send you a replacement definitely ask for your old one back. Otherwise you will have paid full price for only a body with a side dish of loads of hassle!
  9. Yep BSSM is peerless and one of the soundtracks to my life. Saying that, I'll stick my neck out here and say that Californication, at least for me, is their best album. Considering that John was a dead man walking for many years after he first left the band, it was the comeback we all dreamed of but thought impossible. Hell of a vibe and tons of emotion caught on those sessions imho.
  10. Which Pe pickups do you use out of interest? 4 to choose from - I like the idea of the Type 2 "clear acoustic".. They also must be the only company who offer Fodera replacement pickups. Yikes!
  11. I have a P bass tuned BEAD. I buy my sets as singles from Strings Direct - .135 .100 .075 .055 Makes for a perfectly balanced tension and tone set. I've found EB Slinkys and Roto 66 to work well. Chromes too but that B is .132
  12. I've been titting around trying different (most) P pickups for years and the best imo were the Lindy Fralin regular wound. Pricey though.. Not tried the Nordstrand NP4 but they always sound excellent on all the different youtube vids I've seen for what it's worth.
  13. I had one of the reissued prototypes for a bit - 'Old Shitty'. It was sh!t.
  14. What's occurring? Lots of chat, Cat. Let's hear that bass, Ace.
  15. I'd love a look at that too!
  16. Does this mean that they are a bit thicker front to back? If so I like the sound of that. Slim J necks give me hand cramp!
  17. There's always room for a PJ...😈
  18. It looks like you have a regular V4 maple neck on there, which is a good thing in my book. It's the same neck minus the very yellow vintage tint. Just a thought - if you really like that bass then a set of Gotoh Res-O-Lite GB640 will be a direct fit and shave off half a pound. It will feel like more though as the bass will balance sooo much better.
  19. What about just putting a couple of dots with a Sharpie pen on your volume dial on the amp? Change bass, adjust, repeat. Easy as, erm, dot-to-dot..😗
  20. You can buy them from the online shop on the G&L website.
  21. That looks absolutely stunning! The right shade of LPB too. Beautiful. Seeing this has really got the old cogs turning. I may have to give Mark a ring myself..
  22. No one sounds like him Sounds like a fun new way to sound like me though!
  23. I just watched it, bloody fantastic! I've had people texting me for days asking if I'd seen, finally got round to it. I love Tina Weymouth, a proper bass player. Great to see Herbie Flowers too. Really great to learn about Bernard Edwards technique. I really didn't know he used his fingers and thumb like a pick. I must try that myself as I always drop the damned things too! My tomorrow night is Stewart Copeland on drums. I don't fancy the guitar one though for some reason...
  24. Hello there. Any chance you could weigh it for me please? Asking for an (my) old man's back!
