https://www.warmanguitars.co.uk/product/p-bass-stealth-pickup-8-79kohm-and-4-79-henries/ These have a good reputation then. Don't let the k's worry you, I've read a lot of guys in heavy bands like them.

What famous musicians death most shocked you

Same here. Didn't expect it at all. I was at Glastonbury at the time and a page from their daily festival paper blew into my legs. I picked it up and the first thing I saw was the announcement of his death. Weird, profound and even poetic in a way. Was on my mind the rest of the weekend. Amy too. I believe hers was just a matter of time though. -
No I'm the second owner. I bought it from Project Music in Exeter in 2017. And yes, I did have the neck stripped by the tech I use upon arrival when he was giving it the once over. I totally forgot about that! I had it done so it would feel like some of the other CS basses that had stripped necks that I'd tried as I don't like glossy necks. I'll have to amend my description of it!.. Done. ^ It was originally sold by Manson's in Exeter: https://www.mansons.co.uk/product/fender-custom-shop-62-p-bass-heavy-relic-vintage-white-matching-headstock-6938

I've read a review somewhere saying that they replaced the broken pickup in their '68 P with a Seymour Duncan Antiquity ii P and it sounded perfect, the same as before. Can't find the link though sorry!

It's 44mm at the nut, 7.25 radius I think, and front to back it's a very comfy rounded D shape. Not super slim and flat like some reissues can be, and not chunky either. For me at least it is the perfect fit. I pretty much don't notice the neck on this bass. it's always allowed me to just play. Very user friendly if you know what I mean. I didn't actually know it had a full width neck until yesterday actually! Another Basschatter asked me to measure it. I'd always assumed it was a B width neck because it's so easy to play and also because I had a mij '62 P with a wide neck once and found that a bit of a chore to get around on. I don't have any photos with the covers off sorry, really should have taken some.. I've packed it up now ready to go - please don't make me look at it again, we've said our goodbyes already! 😥

Needless to say that I'm gutted to be selling this bass. It's the best I've ever played, never mind owned. A new family car has forced my hand here. Anyway.. 2014 Fender Custom Shop Relic '62 Precision in aged Olympic White with matching headstock. Select lightweight alder body, quarter sawn maple neck with a gorgeous rosewood fingerboard. Custom handwound pickups with beveled pole pieces which of course sound amazing - warmth and growl in spades. This bass is beautifully resonant and is unusually loud when played acoustically. Frets are in perfect condition (had them polished recently) and the action is low. It's wearing Dunlop Superbright steels which are a perfect match here imho. It weighs 8lbs exactly with the chrome covers on. Nut width is 1.75" I am the second owner of this CS, buying it from Project Music in Exeter in 2017. The neck feels amazing, so easy to play. I had the back of the neck stripped and then oiled and waxed by my luthier upon arrival. The case shows some signs of use now but still functions perfectly. Keys present and included. It needs to be mentioned that the relic job here is the best I've seen (I shopped around ALOT before I was happy to open my wallet), just superb. The checking to the finish really is something else. Whoever ends up with this will be very happy indeed. I will also be putting it up for sale on a few other sites so hopefully it will go quickly, before I change my mind and sell my kids instead.. £1900. Local collection preferred but I will ship it by courier at the buyers expense. I'm willing to part trade, with cash my way for another P with a used value of up to £750. Ideally a Fender Road Worn P or a G&L SB-1 could be negotiated but I'm open to ideas. It would have to be a lighter weight bass though, as my old back isn't what it was! Thanks for looking.

Buy a used Nate Mendel P bass - 40mm nut width, slim neck and correct decal - and strip the body? Should just wipe off with cellulose thinners (it being nitro) down to the clear sealer with no sanding required. Already lightly reliced too. Selling the badass and quarter pounder would pay for the correct bridge and pickup you want. Great basses..
