1.
Buddy was the greatest. I say if you can't deal with him , then quit.Or better yet don't join, These guy know what they're signing up for when they played with Buddy. Blue
I'm with you Blue. It's the Buddy Rich Band. It's a different level of demand and expectation entirely, I'd be expecting perfection if I'd seen them play. Anything less would be average. There's a million average bands out there. He'd more than paid his dues by that point and deserved to not feel like a fool on stage. If I was in his band and I knew I hadn't dropped any clams then I wouldn't take any of that abuse personally at all. If I had messed up through not working at it hard enough, and especially at that level, then it's a fair call in my opinion.
2. Fat Beams are my favourite round. They sound and feel great when new, get better as they settle in, and just stay that way for months. I'm into flats at the mo so really should give the Hi Beams flats a shot. They're round core too which sounds nice for the fingers.
3. A fine tipped Tippex pen. Easy to put a small dot of it on, easy to pick it off with no damage or residue left behind. I've used one to put 'note' marker dots along the edge of the neck of my upright and also to mark first position on my fretless. Have a practice on some paper first though until you're happy with your dots
4. Here's another new Chilis song. It's low key but I like it. http://youtu.be/5w4d_mmJOGM
5. Start as you mean to carry on. I hope they get there.
6. Not sure really, it's the only one I've ever seen. I'm guessing they're Picato flats, as the two companies are not too far from each other in the South Wales valleys. I could be wrong though. They are very nice and thumpy, and for a smaller gauge string, the E sounds massive. In a good way.
7. Well, I ended up buying the fretless Revelation RBP65, and fair do's it's bloody lovely! The bass came set up from Fretmusic.co.uk -£150 delivered. Sweet. It's build quality is definitely above both the Vintage V4 and Squier Vintage Modified Precision I have owned. Everything works as it should. The Entwistle NPXN pickup is fantastic and the tone knob actually has an astonishing range, all tones usable. It came strung with a really nice quality set of flats, .100 -.40 as far as I can tell. The weight is good at 8 1/2 lbs, perfect balance and very resonant when played acoustically. For 150 notes, it's bloody silly really! Oh, and I actually really like the headstock too - a big raspberry to all the naysayers! 😝 It's nicely sculpted, I like that it's different. The colour in person is more faded Fiesta red or coral/salmon pink than it looks in my photo. I'll do a proper review after I've gigged it for a while, when the honeymoon is over. But, upon first impressions, this Revelation is a beautiful bass. Good enough to be my number 1, let alone back up bass.
8. I don't like the All for one bit but the second part and the guitar break sound good.
9.
This will be why - she was out as a three piece.... https://youtu.be/A29BMj3v86w
I was down under that year and saw her with the same three piece. Killer combo! I felt she was treading water a bit with the Uh-Huh-Her album and line up. (which Josh was in) Good but not great. She's really found herself again with the last two albums IMO. Sorry for the diversion there...😀
10.
Watching the Klingon in this is like seeing a kid who has overdosed on blue smarties. Did he do this looning around in the other bands he been in as it seems to be not something he's very good at here?
Yes he did. *don't click this link if you, or those around you, are offended by swear words* https://youtu.be/AzI1F7LwGdM
11.
Revelation. They're well made and have much better pickups. The Revelation P I played recently had a real bark, sounded great. I think the Revelations are the best low-cost instruments out there right now, plus you'll be supporting a British company!
Cheers Russ that's good to know. I want a cheapy but goody just to take down the pub for open mic jam nights (something that I don't mind anyone having a go of ) I'm kind of decided on taking a punt on the Revelation now just out of curiosity.

13. I'm looking for a decent budget P type bass at the mo and I'm really tempted by the Revelation P in red. I've had a Vintage V4 in the past and it was great, priced right and didn't need any modding (a bold statement coming from me as I usually can't leave things alone without tinkering), probably the nicest feeling neck (size-wise, really suited my hands) I've played. BUT, I really like the red finish of the Revelation. Plus the headstock is interesting and it's links to Alan Entwistle are reassuring. Anyone have experience with both? Is the Revelation as great bang for buck as the Vintage?
14. Nice for the late night drive after a gig kinda tune. I like it. From a bass geek point of view, the bassline is nothing new of course but it serves the song perfectly and Flea's tone, for me, is much sweeter than on the last couple of efforts. I'll buy the new album. I'm with them.
15. Just adding that when I've been on the hunt for a Fender type of bass and I ask if the neck is straight, I do want to know if the neck is without any twists or indeed the classic 's' hump that can manifest itself around the body end of the neck. Had an old P that developed said condition once. Disappointing!
16. What kind of bass is it, is it a hollow body?
17. An amazing early 2 band Stingray. Unfortunately in a moment of madness, when I wasn't really paying attention, I did sell it. Bellend.
18.
Thanks Miles'tone 🙂
Welcomes 👍
19.
I love all his funky stuff, of course, but this one has always, right from the very first hearing, brought tears ro my eyes. http://youtu.be/zlZONgpmw58 Can't seem to make the video appear in the post. Can someone with a brain fix it please? Ta.
20. Sexy MF. Great cheeky idea for a single, with a groove that still worked even when heavily cut up and edited for radio.
21.
He didn't write "Eternal Flame", he wrote "Manic Monday".
And 'Nothing Compares 2 U' for Sinead O'connor, which was at number one for what seemed like 4 years at the time!
