Sounds great down there, much more useful I find.

^ maybe you are pressing down on the strings much harder than you need to. Also, check your nut height on both the bass and acoustic guitar. Too high and with heavy strings makes those first few positions killer. I realise you have years of experience but it's still worth checking that out..

I found the Seymour Duncan Antiquity II bridge pup worked really well with the Fender Original P pickup if that's any help..

OP here.. I agree that the maths/earth/chakra bollocks is, well exactly that. I can hear a difference between the two examples though and prefer the one called 432 simply because it sounded better to me. I also used to get frustrated by some of my old band members when I'd come in with a new piece in F# for example and they would say, "let's play it in G, it's easier to play it that way." I'd say but it sounds different in G, not as good. They'd insist it was the same and that it didn't matter. I don't think I have perfect pitch but I can certainly sense an emotional difference between different keys for some reason though. I took a quick perfect pitch test today and although I got about half wrong, the ones I did get right easily enough were at 415Hz - baroque tuning. Never heard of that before but it does suggest that I prefer my tones a bit lower than regular 440Hz concert pitch. Great, something new to geek out on! 🙃

Btw, I preferred 432Hz. It sounds more soulful to me. 440Hz sounded a bit too urgent and quite twee in comparison. IMHO. I look forward to experimenting with this myself..

The 432Hz v 440Hz standard A tuning debate. Here's a good vid showing the difference between the two. There are many vids on YouTube which tune down well known songs to 432, but I'm still not sure about them as it's kinda faking the artists performance by altering the feel. A bit. I spent 2016 frugally piecing together a bitsa fretless Precision. I've now got two basses incoming and I can only afford to keep one. I don't even play in a band anymore! I'm weak and because the Internet.

Defo worth it even at full price. They do tend to have an audible click between active and passive but I only run it passive with no battery and pull for a kill switch. The preamp is good btw, I just personally don't need that much choice of tone. There's plenty going on in passive mode already YMMV.

I bought the deko version and it's bloody ace. Nothing wrong with it, came perfectly set up with the nut slots cut just right. I have D'addario tapes on it and it's so effortless to play. The side markers are dots on the usual notes, 3,5,7,etc, but are bang on the note where you actually have to play the note. Not in-between like on a Fretted. It weighs 8lbs on the nose and balances perfectly on the strap. Tuners hold tune.. Highly recommended!
