  1. Top tip is don't play there ever again unless you want to die! The electricity may very well find it's way to ground through you 💀
  2. Can I vote for just upgrading myself and practise 8 hours a day on just the one bass, like the olden days? Looking back, being on the dole was a great career choice! 😄
  3. Same. Well, I'd have one anyway. Can't be doing with blocks on a P bass.
  4. Doh! I didn't see the weight on this one. My bad. If I had 2 grand...
  5. The late 70s Fenders that seem like bargains at the moment are usually the ones that weigh a ton. Well, 10+ lbs at least. I've done a fair bit of window shopping lately!
  6. Bass, Blackstar Fly Bass battery amp, headphones and phone for mp3s. Simple but all I need.
  7. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/3-4-LA-Bass-Guitar-by-Gear4music-Black/17G Perfect for an 8 year old. See if she takes to it and save the real budget for a little later on when she's into The Cure and wants everything black 😄
  8. If it sounds and plays as good as it looks...😍
  9. I've been happily getting along with Spotify for years. This is the first track I haven't been able to find.
  10. It was on a kind of a jazzy, world music compilation. Like Putumayo but not Putamayo. Bought around mid 2000s. I'm wondering what Putumayo-like labels I used to buy... Now regretting getting rid of most of my CDs way back!
  11. I've tried that, Shazam and Google song search but no luck. Thanks for the suggestion though!
  12. It was on a compilation cd, time period unknown unfortunately as it had allsorts on it.
  13. Great tip Dad, I didn't know we could do that. And don't call me Shirley. ✈️😄
  14. Hi all. I'm trying to track down a fab tune that I used to have on a compilation cd years ago. I seem to remember it being called Bass In Love, but Google/Spotify/YouTube are all drawing blanks so I must be mistaken. Artist unknown. It's a beautiful simple tune with a female singing in a very breathy sensual way "la lal la la la la la la..." to a melody (no lyrics), followed by a bowed double bass "singing" her melody back to her as if in conversation. There are other instruments on the track I think but the focus of the track is all about the lady and bass having this little conversation. I'm getting back into relearning my upright (properly this time!) after neglecting it for a few years. I would love to find this tune as it would be a great one to practise my bowing non-skills to. Very simple melody but beautiful. I hope one of you guys might know what I'm talking about as it's proving to be an unshakeable earworm! I can hear it in my head but just can't find it. Help! 😄
  15. A great tip I read on here, possibly by Stingray Pete, is volume up, dial in the right amount of bass that suits your girth/heft/punch requirements, then think of the treble control as a passive tone control and dial in your tone from there. It certainly works and makes easy sense too! Great, now I've got Stingray gas again!
  16. That's some nice bird's-eye maple though!
  17. Serial number on the headstock?
