1.
nope was a different one with a slot for a j pu milled and an extra switch iirc
Really?! Do you have a link? I actually registered with them and had a good look through the classifieds but I didn't see that one.. Thanks
2. Hey thanks, I just went searching on there and it was actually the very same bass mentioned above that is in the BC classifieds being sold by Tonci! I must have looked at every used Stingray in the world that has been up online. The trail is cold. It must be under someone's bed or in the back of a wardrobe somewhere, forgotten. Funny how we get attached to things isn't it..
3. Yes I've seen that one, but ta anyway . The one I'm looking for was an '86/'87 2 band in a much more abused state than that. The last 15 years since I saw it last may not have been too kind either!
4. By the way this isn't a trick - it wasn't stolen or anything untoward, I had to sell it around 2002 to cover my rent when I lived in London. Stepney Green to be exact. So if anyone does have a Stingray (or knows of one) that matches my above description, then please know that it's safe to come out now! ✌😊
5. Just bought a P bass wiring loom off John (my second from him). Fantastic quality as before, the best - posted out the same day, packaged beautifully with clear instructions and even a lil screwdriver to tighten the solderless connections. Magnifico! Cheers John 👍
6. Hey all.. I'm after getting reunited with my old 80's Ernie Ball Stingray and just wondered if any Basschatters may actually own it now. It's a transparent red colour, rosewood board, 2 band eq, nice flame to the maple 4 bolt neck, string mutes bridge (no foam attached when I had it), added jazz pickup where the neck pickup on a jazz would be which means the jack is now on the body edge with volume/volume/treble/bass knobs, black pickguard, chips and dents around the bottom edge strap button, worn through on the forearm contour. Heavy-ish bass as I remember. We have a lot of history together so I'm keen to get her back or at least be in touch with the present owner so I can arrange first dibs if she ever comes up for sale. I don't have any pics or the serial number unfortunately (never took any notice of the SN.. Idiot.) Please help a kindred spirit for news of his old pal. Cheeoz. Si.
7. I put an Allparts P bass neck on my old Revelation RPB-65f and it fitted like a glove. Made a very good bass great. You have a ton of neck options at your disposal, don't worry.
8. Back on topic... I would go for an EMG GZR (Geezer Butler) P/J set. Loads of personality, great for any style of music and you get a quick fit wiring harness with it, so it's a really easy job.
9. Sold a new set of Smith Compressors to Paul. Easy deal with a really nice chap. Thanks mate. 👍
10. The nosedive that the pound has suffered way well be affecting new stock prices. Probably a bit of overzealous marking up going on all around while we're there too I expect.
11. I like the slab body look. How heavy is it? (as in weight, not metal )
12. You should only sell when you need to. End of.
13.
Just dug this one out from a while back... You still going to the Feb jam, miles'tone'? I should be able to make it although not sure what value I'll add to the occasion
Unfortunately not Ash. I'm up in North Wales for half term so I'll miss this Weds jam. Get out there, have a go!
14. Have you tried experimenting with the height of the pickups? Might be able to dial in what you're looking for.
15. My late-80s Stingray. Translucent red, rosewood board, 2eq, Bridge with mutes, an added Duncan hot jazz pickup in the middle position, worn finish on the top arm contour, tinted flame maple neck, EB "Stingraybass" logo. Sold in 2002 in Stepney Green to a couple of guys starting a studio. Any basschatters now own this bass? 🙏
16. But really, thanks to the OP for this thread. I've been rediscovering them on Spotify last night, will tonight too. I also appreciate David Byrne's unique talent a hell of a lot more now than I did when I was younger. 🍻
17. That Tina Weymouth.. Bloody GREAT she is!!
