I use a Mono Bass Sleeve to carry my bass. The front pocket is cavernous and easily holds a few pedals, leads, strap and everything else I need.

Having had a nose around it seems you're right; ply body, mediocre hardware and pickups. Certainly overpriced.

That's a genuine Korean Fender Squier Series, circa 1993-94. Quite tempting. Looks like the jack socket is missing though?

Those are different: the JB2 is passive, the MJ4 is active

Hearing Poptones on John Peel blew my mind and inspired me to play bass. An amazing album.

I'd always wanted to try a Bass VI but being left-handed my options were even more limited. Then I discovered the Revelation RJT60B. It's a good alternative to the Squier and it's cheaper too. The novelty did wear off quite quickly. I do like it, but I agree with the previous posters - in terms of technique and sound it's very much a guitar, not a bass.

It’s just the natural one that’s made of relatively heavy soft maple. The painted ones are basswood or agathis, hence the lighter weight.

I have one of these, and also an American Standard Jazz which is noticeably lighter. Blame the VM’s soft maple body.

Prior to that they had used RH necks on the lefties.

If I needed a travel bass I'd be looking at a Steinberger Spirit. I had the guitar version for a while and thought it was great.

Surely the "early bass cockup" is in fact the rest of the band not going into the chorus on time.

I use a Mono Sleeve with my Fenders and it will stand up while empty. I was quite surprised by how substantial it is, actually. The pocket is massive; that's the main reason I bought it as I need to carry a laptop sometimes. There is internal protection for the bass at the bottom, but the Sleeve itself doesn't have any external protection like the other Mono bags.

[/quote] Fenders are the same. I've got recent a American Standard Jazz and Precision and both were like this. I put reverse taper pots in so the controls still turn anti clockwise but actually work properly.

I've not tried a Pro but you can still find the well regarded American Standard which it superseded for substantially less money, so I would look for one of those.
