  1. This is one of those persistent myths, but the 2 band EQ has always been boost and cut, as detailed in this 1978 manual: http://www.musicmanbass.global/1978-hangtag-manual/
  2. Because the workshop is downstairs there's often no staff in the shop, so they understandably don't want punters wandering in and out. I've found them friendly and helpful whenever I've been in.
  3. Sounds like a connectivity problem. Do other internet service, e.g email, work? Do you have another browser to try, such as Google Chrome?
  4. Yes, that would work. Mine is a GA-1.
  5. I've found this too, so for gigs I use a cheap Korg tuner plugged into the tuner output of my amp.
  6. I always thought Fender’s guide was pretty good: https://support.fender.com/hc/en-us/articles/214343843-How-do-I-set-up-my-bass-guitar-properly-
  7. Mine has been in the loft for twenty years. Maybe I should get it out?
  8. Absolutely agree with this. Glastonbury is simply on a different scale to any of the smaller festivals, more like a medium sized town full of performances and craft of all kinds. You only see the big stages on TV and in the papers but there is so much more. I've read there are around 100 stages in all and I can believe it. Something I've learnt over the years is not to have a long list of must-see bands, as you will never get to all of them. It takes a long time to get from place to place, and you will get distracted by other stuff you find en route. I love a smaller festival too - last year I really enjoyed End Of The Road - but there really is nothing like Glastonbury. Oh, and I think the line up this year is a bit lame too, but it really doesn't matter.
  9. Glad to hear they are still going! I saw them a few times in the mid 80s and Keith was quite an influence on my playing.
  10. It’s a 2013 American Standard, in Mystic Red
  11. It's been quiet here lately, so here are the two basses I use the most.
  12. Jim Stinnett's Real Bass lessons are worth a look: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTLM0C5Acp-0xi4ZEb-mSQg
  13. and in a strange coincidence:
  14. I agree Wobble’s Ovation sounds good, but he only got that in the late 80s. He’s playing a Precision on the Public Image albums.
  15. The tab is for Drop D tuning (as stated at the top) and is correct.
  16. How do they get the weight down? Are they chambered?
  17. I usually use Audacity for this, load the original and save a pitch shifted version https://www.audacityteam.org/ Amazing Slow Downer is good but the free version only handles part of a track
  18. Aren't those cases made by SKB? Worth a look here: https://store.skbcases.com/
  19. Saw JZ Replacement last night at Mau Mau Bar, a great little place on Portobello Road. An intense but funky sax/bass/drums trio with Tim Lefebvre on bass, and a real treat to see him do his stuff up close. Some great tones, especially the gnarly distortion he was getting from a Microtubes X7. Excellent drums and sax from Jamie Murray and Zhenya Strigalev too. They are playing a late show tonight at Ronnie Scotts - recommended if you like that sort of thing.
  20. Here's a great fretboard replacement on a Fender from a few years ago. Reasonably cheap too:
  21. The Roland Cube bass combos are pretty good for bass and clean guitar sounds too, thanks to a bunch of built in effects.
  22. Save a bit at Richtone, currently £389 https://www.richtonemusic.co.uk/product/line_6_helix_hx_effects_multi_effects_pedal/
  23. 1970s prog rockers, that’s who. Mike Rutherford of Genesis, for example, would switch between guitar and bass within a song, often using bass pedals to fill out the bottom end when playing guitar.
