  1. I’ve just taken delivery of a pedal bought from Ben. Excellent packaging, fast and fairly priced postage, and the pedal is in great condition, exactly as described. An easy deal to do with prompt and helpful messaging. Recommended seller!
  2. Yes, same on my '96. I tried polishing them but it made no difference
  3. Just discovered this trio. Nice playing all round:
  4. I’ve bought various parts for my Stingray direct from the UK distributor: http://stringsandthings.co.uk/ Helpful, cheap and prompt delivery
  5. Was that True Life Confessions? I seem to recall seeing them around that time, and the singer stripped off during the show.
  6. I think the suggestion to slacken the truss rod was to see if you could improve matters with your old strings. Having fitted heavier strings, you'll need to tighten the truss rod back up to compensate for their increased tension. I expect you'll need to take it back to approximately where it was before, i.e a quarter turn clockwise, but do it in stages, measuring neck relief as you go.
  7. Steely Dan stopped touring in 1974 and didn't play live at all throughout their late 70s run of classic albums. They have toured extensively since their 1993 reunion though.
  8. I’d be interested to hear about the tonal differences between the old Stingray and the Special. I’ve read that the Special is a bit mellower, overall, with a little less of that Stingray snarl.
  9. This is a good point. Regarding poor quality and low volume, are you using Bluetooth headphones with the Vox? If so, try a set of wired ones.
  10. It's three things in one box. It's a high quality headphone amplifier. Connect your bass, adjust gain, volume and EQ to taste, plug headphones into it and play. You can also plug in an additional audio signal, such as your phone, useful for playing along with tunes. So it will replace your Vox and should be noticeably better. It's also a USB audio interface. Connect it to a computer with a USB cable and it will show up as an input, allowing you to record into an application like Pro Tools or Garage Band. All the blurb in that review is about this functionality - converting analog (your bass) to digital and back again. And it's also a pre-amp, so you can use its output to go straight into a PA, for example. Mine sits on a table and is used for headphone practise only, and I really like it.
  11. The Barefaced 210 would be a good bet.
  12. I'd agree with that assessment. I don't think you could describe the Sire as simply having rolled edges, it's a fully rounded edge profile. Probably feels quite nice though!
  13. I like my Mono Bass Sleeve, mainly due to its huge pocket that swallows leads, pedals, even a laptop. It’s comfortable on my back and seems pretty durable after four years of regular use.
  14. In the UK you can get Stingray spares from Strings and Things, contact form here: https://ernieball.co.uk/contact
  15. The other problem is that Apple have now made it very difficult to obtain older OS installers, so unless you have the 10.6 or 10.7 DVD you could be stuck.
  16. There's no workaround; to use the Ozonic you need the driver, but the driver will only work on 10.7 or 10.6. Presumably you were running OS X 10.7 beforehand. Can't you reinstall the same OS version?
  17. I bought a Stingray a while ago and have had to make a few truss rod adjustments. Ernie Ball actually specify the following in their FAQ: "You should make all adjustments with the strings where you would normally play them. Do not loosen the strings to adjust the truss rod."
  18. I went to his debut UK show back in the day, and the audience was full of musicians in awe of his technique. But it wasn’t a great gig. Once you looked beyond what he was doing the music was pretty bland, and I felt he didn’t really swing or groove at all.
  19. Just spotted this while reading back through this interesting thread. Apparently TKS production is starting up again following a workshop move. There are some recent updates on Facebook.
  20. James Maxted does good, accurate, no fuss cover videos.
