  1. Slade, Wizzard, Shakin' Stevens, Mariah Carey, Mud, Band Aid and Wham are all in the set list for next weekend. Slade and Shaky are quite fun to play but the rest are dull... I did get to play Christmas Wrapping last year. It went down very well but we don't have our female singer anymore, so it got dropped
  2. Great band. I saw them play on the Boys and Girls in America tour, they were excellent live. They come over here once a year and do a weekend of gigs in London - the next ones are in March 2020.
  3. You can share files with anyone by sending them a link, as far as I know
  4. You have to stop sharing the original folder, then it will disappear from your Dropbox.
  5. You're using a shared folder in Dropbox, so anything the owner copies into it gets copied to your Dropbox too. If your drummer just sends a link to the folder you can choose which individual files you want, and can download them or copy to your Dropbox selectively, and delete them when you want.
  6. Thanks for this. I'm very happy with my TH500 and two 1x12s at present, but I'm playing small venues. I do like the minimalist design of the BB800.
  7. Does anyone know how the Quilter stacks up against the Tone Hammer 500?
  8. Curious, I've had mine for years and it has two, one on the back panel and one on the RH panel
  9. I've not seen the Stealth before, but it looks like an evolution of the Bass Sleeve, with the large pocket replaced with discreet, smaller compartments for accessories. I've used a Sleeve for a few years now and it's a great bag. Instrument protection is good and it's comfortable to carry. I do find large Fender style tuners will be nudged out of tune as there's no depth to the bag but that's not a big problem. I also wish it had better protection on the base for when you put it down, but mine is lasting well nevertheless. If you're happy with the more limited storage I would think the Stealth would be a good buy.
  10. He's played drums for some big names, such as Donny McCaslin, so he's no slouch
  11. If the unit is turned off, the green light will be on if it’s charging the battery, but go off once the battery is fully charged. When the Big Head is on, if connected the power the green light stays on.
  12. There aren’t many active P options for us lefties. As far as I know the Sire stands alone in its price bracket. A Sandberg would be a more expensive option, and probably require a wait too unless you found one with the right spec at a dealer. Another thing to consider is adding a preamp to a passive P bass, something I’ve thought about trying myself.
  13. I like the Dunlop flats on my Precision. Agree about them being quite bright. They're also low tension compared to Chromes, the only other flats I've tried.
  14. Saw the show on the weekend in Cardiff. Nad was fairly decent, I thought. He's strictly there to impersonate Peter Gabriel, and amusingly wasn't even on stage for the heavily harmonised "The Virgin and the Gypsy", which Hackett said he'd never done live before because he "didn't have enough singers in the band"
  15. It's an interesting bit of branding from EBMM. Their last forays into passive designs (the Caprice and Cutlass) were discontinued fairly quickly, so I guess the thinking is to stick with a familiar name and shape for this one. But no pre-amp? It's not the short-scale Stingray many would expect. I wonder if we will see a passive long-scale Stingray using this circuit one day?
  16. While the meter, and database, are both convenient, the current draw is usually specified by the manufacturer in the manual or somewhere. For example, the Source Audio C4 user guide can be downloaded and states “9V DC, minimum 165 mA (maximum 195 mA when connected to a power reliant external controller)” in the specs.
  17. I’ve kept guitars in my loft for years with no ill effects. They’ll be fine as long as it’s not damp up there.
  18. Agree with the above, but worth noting that the 2014 has "'Custom Shop '62" pickups, modelled on 1962 originals and also the modern poly finish is much thinner than the bad old days.
  19. Nice looking bass. It's made by Leif Jakobsson of Guitar Works in Sweden. They're on facebook as "Sweden Guitarworks" I think this is the same instrument:
  20. Yes, the Mini is basically the Mk2 with no Sub (i.e no Sub vol or Sub switch). I was under the impression the circuit is the same as the Mk2 with the Tim switch on, but the 3 Leaf website does state "It starts with the popular TIM mod from the original and takes it further with a reworked tone knob that runs the gamut from classic OC-2-inspired thump to all-out sub fuzz". So maybe it sounds a little different.
  21. There’s a CITES exemption on the way for rosewood in musical instruments, thankfully. However the requirement for carnets for goods taken to Europe is a real possibility, depending on what agreements we end up with.
  22. I also switched primarily to bass when I joined a covers band, playing a Squier VM Jazz. After much deliberation I upgraded to an American Standard Fender Jazz, and I never regretted it. Everything about the US instrument was superior to the VM, maybe in small ways, but it all added up to a much nicer experience. It also held its value fairly well when I came to sell, having bought a Precision...
  23. Great bargain here if you want to record on an iPhone or iPad that has a headphone output: https://store.focusrite.com/en-gb/product/itrack-one-pre/MOIS0012~MOIS0012
  24. Interesting single, produced by Mike Scott of Waterboys fame, and features Dave Dickie who was later in Black.
