  1. Intriguing new model to celebrate Sandberg's 40th anniversary: https://bassmagazine.com/sandberg-guitars-reveals-florence-nova-bass-series/
  2. It was documented as cut and boost in the manual: www.musicmanbass.global/1978-hangtag-manual/
  3. This happened to me a few years ago when I bought a One10T to pair with an older One10. I think the handle was moved to the other side for the One10T. I was a little annoyed but I kept it, and it doesn’t make any difference in use. In retrospect I should have given Alex some feedback at least.
  4. I am a fan of the Boss Katana Go. A huge variety of excellent tones from the built in amp models and effects, and bluetooth connectivity means you can play along to songs from your phone wire-free. It can also act as a digital interface to a computer. It's a more expensive option but the sound quality and convenience make it worthwhile for me.
  5. My Marathon is lightweight too, and rather neck heavy, being an 8-string. I thought they all had obeche bodies, a wood that's about 60% of the weight of ash.
  6. It's well worth seeing the current version of the band live, they put on a great show. Touring the UK next year.
  7. Not the Marlowe DK, just a regular TT with aging: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tZjW7a66jQ&t=15s
  8. Spotted on Instagram. The Superlight bodies are now being built with a swamp ash centre and paulownia wings to increase sustain and bass response. It will be interesting to hear how they sound. https://www.instagram.com/p/DPqvTr0AqZm/?igsh=ZDlrbjR0cXRnMzc0
  9. Yes, quite normal for 70s Fenders, they just wired them like the right handlers. They did progress to wiring the pots in reverse by the 90s, but as they are tapered it just made them act like a switch. Finally in 2015 they got round to fitting reverse taper pots.
  10. The Blackstar mini bass always looked quite nifty to me: https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Blackstar-Carry-On-Travel-Bass-Guitar-ST-White/5GY5
  11. It’s a copy of Mark Sandman’s bass, which was a 4 string with only 2 strings on it, so it’s quite accurate in that regard.
  12. I have a 2011 SR5 and the three sounds are quite distinctive. When the switch is back toward the bridge, the pickup coils are wired in parallel. The sound is slightly scooped or hollow. This is the classic Stingray tone as produced by the 4 strings. Toward the neck gives you the coils in series, a powerful punchy tone that I find the most useful one. And on post 2008 models, the middle position is series wiring plus a filter, which to my ears rolls off the top end and slightly accentuates the bottom. It’s a sort of vintage series sound. There’s no single coil mode after 2008.
  13. Mark Sandman tuned his in a fifth, D and A, and used a slide. A fantastic, unique sound and brilliant band.
  14. There is a Sire 6-string lefty. Quite pricey by their standards. https://www.andertons.co.uk/sire-f10-left-handed-6-string-natural-satin/
  15. Sad to hear this. I used to frequent their Llanishen store in my school lunch hours. Another Cardiff store I remember was the Sound Centre, who had a white lefty Rickenbacker bass in their window for several years circa 1980. Unfortunately I had no way of raising the required £400.
  16. Fat Beams will retain the feel of your round core Sunbeams and give you more of the sound you’re after. I loved them on my Fender Jazz Bass.
  17. That’s normal for the older Fender shaped T models. The redesign moved the battery box to behind the lower horn. That happened in 2015, I think. Here’s an example of the old model: https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/sandberg-california-jm4-green-metallic-2009-pre-owned/
  18. John East 4-knob pre amp? Supposed to give you the original MM 2 band tones plus a sweepable mid. https://www.east-uk.com/product/mmsr-4-knob-3-band/?v=7885444af42e
  19. Decent discount on this Kala mini solid body bass, should anyone be in the market: https://www.southernukulelestore.co.uk/shop-by-size/bass/kala-ka-sb-tb-fs-l-left-handed-solid-body-4-string-fretted-ubass-tobacco-burst-w-gigbag
  20. Viktor bought my Source Audio C4. Great communications, fast payment and overall a smooth and enjoyable transaction. Trade with confidence!
  21. For sale is my Line 6 HX One. This offers the full set of approximately 250 Helix effects in one compact pedal, but only allows the use of one effect at a time. It's very easy to use, with a well thought out UI. Editing, saving and recalling presets is simple. The Flux function allows you to switch between two sets of parameters for a loaded preset, which gives more flexibility the you might expect. There's also a basic but effective tuner, accessible from the foot switches. You can control it via MIDI, and also connect additional external foot switches, although I have never explored those features myself. I used this as a single pedal for quite a few gigs where I just needed a chorus, distortion or octaver for one or two songs. Others use it as a replacement for several rarely used pedals on a larger board. I was impressed enough by the Helix effects to upgrade to a HX Stomp, hence the sale. In excellent condition. Supplied in box, with power supply. £170 including UK postage.
  22. For sale is my Keeley Bassist, a highly rated, transparent and easy to use compressor. Excellent condition. Supplied in box, £120 including UK postage.
  23. There are some genuine looking reviews on Facebook, all positive. I think they sound interesting, maybe worth a punt for something of moderate value.
  24. Yes, it is a classic. I’ve just discovered they are touring, playing the album live to celebrate its 25th anniversary, with a few UK dates coming up. https://kruderdorfmeister.com
  25. Joel bought a pedalboard from me. Great comms, swift payment, and overall a smooth and easy transaction - many thanks!
