  1. For sale - my American Deluxe Precision in natural finish with maple fingerboard. P/J pickup configuration. 21 Fret. 3 band active EQ with Active/Passive switch. Weighing in at 9lbs. The bass dates to 2011 (based on the serial number), and is still in excellent condition with all original parts. There is one ding on the top edge of the body, which I only recently discovered by feel, and couldn't capture in a photograph. Looking for £950 £850! Price includes spare tort pickguard, original Fender hard case +candy, and two planet waves straps with strap locks (if you want them!). Inspired by a thread on this forum I recently considered converting this bass to passive, so will also throw in the custom pickguard I bought for this project. Both additional pickguards are from WD Music. Collection preferred, or buyer to arrange shipping (I am based in North Essex). My feedback thread is here: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/124316-feedback-for-heathy-steve/?tab=comments#comment-1137183 Pics below.
  2. For me, the most shocking was Zappa, Bowie, and more recently Keith Flint. I also always feel a sense of loss when listening to Hendrix and Jeff Buckley, even though they both passed way before I was aware of their music. A kind of 'what might have been' kind of thing...
  3. Have you tried recording yourselves and listening back to it. In the past I have done that, and it help identified note choices and lengths that weren't working well.
  4. The Prodigy at Brixton in 97 was the only gig I've been to where it felt like the bass had rearranged my internal organs. Keith Flint was an outstanding frontman and will be sadly missed.
  5. I like the idea of a passive Stingray, but the absence of the tone knob and the oversized volume knob just turns this into a novelty item IMO. I'm sure that the 50 will sell, though.
  6. I'm not offended by this post. And that offends me.
  7. I'm a lefty who plays right-handed. That always felt the natural way, however in recent years I have realised that my right hand is a real weak link in my playing.
  8. So you've had a dream about someone being keen to give you wood - exotically - and then charge you more than you thought. Have you posted this in the correct forum?
  9. Loved it before they played a note.
  10. Have held off buying tickets as the timing's not good for me. However, if Ike was also in the band...
  11. There is often a big difference between the music I like to listen to, and the music I like to play. Also, occasionally after regularly playing music I like to listen to, I no longer like to listen to it! So in IMHO, probably not worth getting bogged down with the choice of songs if everything else is good.
  12. Pretenders - brass in pocket and I'm sorry, but...
  13. I understand that nose grease is also used by watchmakers, and apart from the human nose is only found in a certain type of shark (I don't know if this is true, I read it in a Jack Reacher book). Anyway, clean, dry hands work best for me.
  14. I'll just leave this here. This drummer is at the wrong gig mkII!
  15. Thanks for posting. Well worth watching this to get a good understanding of what's going on in this song:
  16. This is Gold! I have only been playing 33 years. However, the additional advice I would give my teenage self is not to forget right hand technique. I have just started playing in a band with more challenging lines, so have only recently been found out! What makes it worse I think is that I am a lefty playing right-handed, so my focus has always been on my dominant (fretting) hand.
  17. I'll be there. Third time seeing them - to me, Ghost are perfect! Take the extra pants.
  18. Ed Sheeran - the early years. I actually bought the single of this & 'me and my mini' in the 80s. A massive influence on my bass playing.
  19. Agreed. Still doesn't excuse those trousers though.
  20. Should be fine. Always better to give notice, rather than just bailing.
  21. Recently bought a bass cab from Steve. A pleasure to deal with. Many thanks.
  22. Just bought a Jazz Bass from Simon. Great guy to deal with. I'm a very happy boy. Cheers!
  23. Definitely 'b'. I would mention up front if there were any you ran out of time for, or would need to busk. Being a good fit is more important than nailing everything from the outset. I would also interpret the request as that there will not be a queue of bass players lining up to audition that day. Best of luck!
