  1. This is great, thanks for posting. I have recently decided to study Jamerson's style, so this couldn't have come at a better time for me.
  2. I remember them doing this one on the R30 tour.
  3. I really like Planet Rock. Moved over to it when Team Rock went belly up a year or so back. Could live without the adverts, but there you go...
  4. Reflections from a Clothes Horse would make a great album title. GLWTS!
  5. Really enjoyed that. Impressive footwear too!
  6. What not to do in a music shop? Go in, unless you really need to buy something. Most of them are just ghastly.
  7. Regarding quitting a band with work in the diary, I think that if you're unhappy it's probably better form to give notice that you intend to leave (and are prepared to honour what's in the diary if you're still required) rather than just keep going and jump ship when something better comes along. Possibly not the case if you depend on gigs as your primary source of income, but I don't think that applies to many of us.
  8. I think they are. Best make contact via facebook or the contact details on the website.
  9. I left my band at the end of last year. No issues with them at all, but I just felt the time had come (as the OP said, it was weighing me down). Since then I have enrolled on SBL, and I must say that it's a long time since I have enjoyed playing the bass as much as I do now. As far as joining another band in the future goes - if it happens, it happens.
  10. My Mono bag arrived today in what would be perfect packaging for this. Price dropped to £40!
  11. I got it! Thanks for posting.
  12. 'Got lots of cardboard for packaging knocking about at the moment'- type bump!
  13. I skipped from page 1 to 18, and saw the discussion had moved on to porridge. We may have missed a turning!
  14. I have recently left my band and they are looking for a new bass player. Gigs are mainly functions/pubs, with the main emphasis being on 70s music. They also occasionally do a Bowie tribute. Links to Facebook and website are here: https://www.facebook.com/thespiderz/ https://www.thespiderz.co.uk/ They are a fantastic bunch of guys, and this really is a great, no hassle, gig.
  15. My last gig with my band last night. A few songs in an elderly lady came up to me and asked if I could turn my bass down as it was affecting her pacemaker! This is a new one on me. Does anyone else have experience of this?
  16. David Lee Roth, Wembley Arena 1988.
  17. Queens of the Stone Age at the O2. Bass sounded awesome. Will be in the queue for Finsbury Park tickets next week.
  18. 93%. DB player caught me out.
  19. I've only been in one band where we played songs that I regularly listened to. Result was that I didn't enjoy listening to them anymore. However, often playing songs I'm not familiar with has also really opened my eyes to artists that I'd previously not had much time for. Bowie being one prime example. The audience reaction is a major factor in how much I enjoy playing a song.
  20. Von Hertzen Brothers next Thursday.
  21. I once saw him do a clinic where he was plugged direct into an Ampeg, using just the P-pickup. Still sounded like him. I don't think that there is an album that really does his live sound justice, though.
  22. We had a drunk woman fall over a monitor last night, slamming the microphone into the singer's mouth. Not good. We also had a dep drummer (which I don't really want to get into). Fortunately, we got through it.
  23. Ahh, the old fountain pen line...
  24. I'd also agree with Discreet's advice. I think everyone in the band should have some influence over the songs, but your post makes it sound like the keyboard player is getting quite a bit of influence. Maybe you should also consider - did things need a freshen up anyway? and is this just a way of getting the new member settled in/feeling at home in the band?
