  1. First concert - Meatloaf, Ipswich Gaumont 1985 Last concert - Sleep Token, Colchester Arts Centre Best concert - David Lee Roth 1988 / Bowie 1990. Any time I have seen Queens of the Stone Age or Ghost. Worst concert - Agent Steel, Hammersmith 87? (won the tickets so no worries) Loudest concert - The Prodigy, Brixton Academy 1997 Seen the most - Thunder / Dweezil Zappa Most surprising - Black Lace Next concert - Ozzy (fingers crossed) Wish I would have seen - Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix
  2. Garage storage works for me. Off the ground and well covered.
  3. I always went for option one, mainly because this makes the outro more impactive. I recall that Elbow's bass player plays a keyboard on this one live.
  4. This is what I thought of when I saw the post title. Turns out that it's 2018 though.
  5. I liked the MTD Super 5 and the Warwick. It also struck me how much the Yamaha Attitude still sounded like Billy Sheehan with Scott playing it.
  6. Mrs H did exceptionally well. I got a EHX Freeze pedal, a Levys strap, the Flea and Tony Iommi autobiographies, and a book by Zappa's former housekeeper. Most other gifts were either grooming or gin related.
  7. Still waiting for Maiden to play the Olympic Stadium... a 40th celebration of the first album there would have been perfect.
  8. Great! I've got some strap buttons with no bass attached. I'm off!
  9. What's that thing on the pickguard above the neck pickup. Is it a removable thumb rest?
  10. Me too. And they were great live. I was sat directly behind JPJ at the Albert Hall when he was playing the keyboards. He plays better bass with his feet than many do with their hands! Can anyone think of any 'supergroups' who exceeded expectations though?
  11. Thanks for posting. This looks like it could be an option for my deluxe precision. Although this does bring with it the added complication of getting a customised pickguard. Any recommendations?
  12. Imagine how tedious it would be to have a band member who insists on doing something like that every...single...gig.
  13. Better results can be achieved with the other end of the bass.
  14. The Bass Centre was a fantastic place. I went to see a Billy Sheehan clinic there in the early 90's, and the amazing @neilmurraybass was stood behind me in the queue! Pics below (Awww, look at his little face!):
  15. Still the bass for me. Although my first instrument was a Casio keyboard, and I do wish I'd taken that a bit more seriously.
  16. I've never felt like quitting altogether, but have had a couple of periods of downtime. Once of these involved a 'cleansing' exercise, which involved selling everything and buying different stuff. This was a lot of fun as you can imagine.
  17. I love this. It has to be worth re-subscribing to SBL just to see this course!
  18. There was some serious cowbell abuse going on when I saw them do this live a couple of years back.
  19. I could say everything in the past 15 years, as my tastes have come full circle. It has been a useful learning experience though, and I have owned some great basses along the way.
  20. Always full up or off for me. An on/off switch would be a better idea. I've not had a bass yet where I felt the volume increased uniformly either.
  21. I can think of many rock albums I would like to hear with Dave Grohl's drumming... Slightly off topic, but I believe that if David Lee Roth had kept the 'Eat Em and Smile' line up together they would have taken over the world (well mine at least).
  22. Unlikely, unless a nice jazz bass with a maple board comes along. Sexy profile pic by the way!
