  1. I am looking to sell my 2020 Fender Jazz V, which was bought new in 2021. This bass is black, with a black pickguard, and maple fretboard. The original mint green pickguard, Fender hard case and candy is all included. The bass has had a professional set-up, and has been fitted with a KiOgon wiring loom (V/B/T) and chrome knobs. Originals also included. Weight is just over 9lbs. It is a great bass in excellent condition, and hasn’t been gigged. Price is now £1,000. Collection preferred, or buyer to arrange shipping. However, I would be happy to meet up within a reasonable distance (I am based in North Essex). Not looking for trades. Sorry! My feedback thread is here:
  2. “You can sing along with this one. It’s called ‘Two Little Boys’”
  3. Hi All I have owned a number of American Fenders over the years. I switched from 4 to 5 string basses as a lockdown project, but have recently joined a punk band and am looking to get a 4 string Precision for that gig. I admit to being a bit of a gear snob in the past, but am now wondering what the extra grand the American pro costs over the Mexican Player series will actually deliver in practise. Any thoughts? Also, if I do go for the Player series, should it be the Precision or the Jag. Or in other words - Dirnt or Hoppus? Cheers!
  4. I’ve always thought that there is a positive correlation between the quality of Bond theme tunes and the film itself.
  5. As you have a keyboard player, hopefully you can progress without either guitarist. You may find that you don’t even need one!
  6. Great vid. I wish I’d seen that years ago. The importance of the plucking hand is understated in a lot of teaching.
  7. The flip side of this is that if people aren’t dancing it’s all our fault!
  8. Absolutely. Have seen numerous bands where they saved the greatest hits for the encore, which to me seems arrogant/contrived. For me, an encore should be something unexpected.
  9. I put the bass down for three years when doing my accountancy studies. As soon as they were complete, and I was looking forward to getting back into playing bass, I accidentally slammed a car door on to the index and middle fingers of my right hand. This stalled the big comeback by a few more weeks.
  10. Bought a Warwick bass from Jason. He replied very promptly to my questions, with loads of pictures which was really helpful. Top seller! I’m a very happy boy! Many thanks Jason.
  11. Hi All A few months ago I purchased an American Jazz Bass 5-string. It's great apart from there being a notable drop in volume when both volume pots are full on. I have had a number of jazz basses in the past and this has never been an issue. I recently put in a new wiring loom with a VBT configuration (personal preference), but the issue is still the same with the balance pot in the centre notch. Any movement to either side and the signal strength returns. Any ideas as to what might be causing this? Cheers
  12. The guitarist hates him. Looks like he’s thinking “here he goes. Every bloody night…”
  13. I believe the answer is ‘Waterloo Sunset’
  14. Unboxed an SWR cab at a gig once.
  15. People like Jacob Collier are bad for music. There isn’t a bass solo in existence that wouldn’t sound better played on another instrument. The best bass sound ever is on ‘Superman’ by Black Lace.
  16. Subscribed to this over the weekend. After 37 years of playing, there were a few eye openers for me in the very first video. Looks like a good investment, but I’ll keep you updated.
  17. I played a Kubicki X Factor throughout the 90s. Since then it has been mostly Fenders. I suppose my signature bass would be based on the Kubicki, but would be passive and have a more traditional body shape.
  18. I would take it back. It’s either fit for purpose, or it isn’t.
  19. Numerous easy solutions to this I expect. Here’s one: adjust the angle of your hand so the lower part of your thumb is also muting the A and E strings. I have recently adopted this type of approach after moving to a 5 string. Thumb isn’t floating, but neither is it anchored onto the string.
  20. I would find that kind of Diva behaviour unacceptable, regardless of how good he is. Right or wrong, my reaction would probably be to dig my own heels in!
  21. I’m sure that anyone buying this won’t need the second pillow.
  22. E string sounds out to me on the isolated track (Listen from around 1:20). However, still an amazing line, and works in the mix.
  23. A popular modern choice is likely to be Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran.
