  1. Two effects pedals for sale. Both in excellent condition and come with original boxes and free added Velcro! Both have had minimal use, and have just sat on my pedalboard for the last couple of years, hence reason for sale. Fwonkbeta - £120 posted Sub n Up Mini - £50 posted - NOW SOLD Not looking for trades - sorry! My feedback thread is here:
  2. As a teenager I spent hours studying the cover to Iron Maiden's Powerslave. So that's mine for sure.
  3. Personally, I would say that Denim is the mark of a man.
  4. Sold - subject to the usual. Thanks for your interest.
  5. I am looking to sell my virtually new Music Man Sterling 5-string. (Not to be confused with Sterling by Music Man). This bass is a pacific blue burst, with a black pickguard, maple fretboard and 3-band EQ. It was bought new in September 2020, and due to the COVID restrictions is yet to be played ‘in anger’. It has, however, had a professional set-up. It is a great bass, with a fast neck and low action. It comes with a EBMM hard case. Price is £975. Collection preferred, or buyer to arrange shipping. However, I would be happy to meet up within a reasonable distance (I am based in North Essex). Not looking for trades. Sorry! 6. Thanks for all of your responses. To clarify - there is still an issue when playing unplugged - which is what I do a lot of the time. So not an amp/EQ matter I would say. I am only finding this issue on my MM Sterling, which is strung with Rotosounds. I recently bought a second 5'er (Fender Jazz) - same scale as the Sterling - and there is no such issue with the Fender strings. I have ordered some more Fender strings for the Sterling, which I hope will resolve the issue - particularly as it's a much easier bass to play.
  7. Hi All I have recently moved to playing five string basses after 35 years playing four strings. I have always used Rotosound strings during that time, and have been very happy with them. However, having added a 5-string set to one of the new basses, I find that the B is really (I mean REALLY) muddy. My question is - Is this just likely to just be a dud, or do some brands produce notoriously bad B-strings. Also could there be an issue with the bass? Any thoughts / recommendations would be appreciated. Cheers
  8. My list would definitely include Frank Zappa - YCDTOSA Volumes 1 - 3, Broadway the Hard Way, The Best Band You Never Heard in Your Life etc. AC/DC - If you want blood Iron Maiden - Live After Death
  9. Thanks for your comments. I can confirm that the bass is all original.
  10. Due to my strict “Always two there are, a master and an apprentice”* policy, I am selling my 2016 American Standard Jazz Bass. This will then make me a fully-fledged member of the 5-string ‘Dark Side’. This bass is a creamy looking Olympic white, with a tort pickguard and rosewood neck. Its retro look is enhanced by a ‘ding’ (pictured) which I understand arose from an argument with a cymbal in an earlier life. It was sanded smooth and does not affect playability. It is a great bass, with a great tone and low action. It comes with a Fender hard case. I am looking for £650. Socially-distanced collection preferred, or buyer to arrange shipping. However, I would be happy to meet up within a reasonable distance (I am based in North Essex). Not looking for trades. Sorry! 11. That was fantastic. I think I have something in my eye...
  12. Not sure about whether the frequency charts fully addresses the issue. Notes of the same pitch higher up on the D string were still much louder on my stingray (apologies if this misses the point). I could mitigate the quiet G string issue by adjusting the eq (removing the scoop), but as that left me with a tone I didn't want it was pointless. Five years after my bad experience with a Stingray, I have recently purchased a five String EBMM Sterling. Hope this will be ok, but obviously I'm yet to play it in anger...
  13. I haven't posted for a little while. Is this type of 'shaming' the type of thing Basschat has been reduced to now? Really uncool guys. Really uncool.
  14. Thanks for your response. I think I've sorted it now - the existing set up was worse than I thought (see earlier comments bout PMT). Strings are Rotosounds. I found this video helpful:
  15. Related question here. I have just bought my first 5 string, and am having trouble intonating the B string after putting new strings on. I have adjusted the bridge saddle back quite a way (lengthening the string) and it doesn't seem to make any difference. Could it be anything else? The string gauge is 125 - too light maybe...? or is this normal for a B? Cheers
  16. If that's the reason, I'm definitely not going to look for a google image of Hugh.
  17. The shortest gig I've been to was Tony Bennett. It was an hour of absolute class though. What winds me up, though is the number of bands that build unnecessary filler into their sets. The worst example of this is when I saw Slash play a 15 minute solo to Rocket Queen (in 3 acts) while Miles Kennedy stood there just twiddling his thumbs. What a waste.
  18. Eat 'em and Smile - we needed a lot more from that line up at that moment in time
  19. I would suggest Joe's Garage by Zappa, but I think that was originally a triple album...
  20. The very same. I thought that presented a good opportunity to learn to play a 5!
  21. Well, I took delivery of a 5-string Sterling today, so there's one less out there now!
  22. I received a message last night to say the Sterling had been despatched. Looking good...
