  2. Are folks not just trying to do too much with these preamps? I love filter pre's and have 4 basses with them - 1 Wal, 1 Alembic, 1 ACG and 1 Status with ACG pre installed. For recording, the ACG's are unmatched - you can provide essentially a fully finished and eq'd sound to the board direct from your bass and it will be the sound *you* have sculpted. But live I just run them in wide open "flat" mode as described by @skelf in an earlier post in this thread. Do I need to set a different eq for each song? No- I can change which pickup I'm using or move my hand along the string to get enough variation for a live set. Once you know what's happening with each control it's easy enough to start tweaking live and use them intuitively but the bugbear comes if you're trying to insist on accurate repeatability. That's impossible with these setups. I would argue that it's not necessary for live work but others' circumstances may be different. There *is* an argument for recording when you might be required to revisit a section of a song at a later point. Would we like to see a programmable preamp in our basses? I'm just making mischief now lol.
  3. The 1973 Jazz I'm restoring had a horribly fitted Schaller bridge on it. The original bridge was present, but it was missing mounting screws and two intonation screws. So I bought new screws and springs and re-fitted the bridge. You can see two sets of three screw holes: my guess is the Schaller was fitted once, they found out it couldn't be properly intonated and then re-fitted it. I really like the discolouring undereatb.
  4. Following this thread... I have very little technical knowledge but need to build some up, quick! We have a large active sub which failed on us last night. Because we were using the sub I only had my SWR Working Pro 10 (100 watts, supposed to be to tilt back at me for my monitoring only) rather than my full Ashdown Rig. We lost the kick drum sound through the sub and had to put a small amount of bass into the tops which for some reason the rest of the band hate doing... But we play iPhone playlists through these which also have bass frequencies so in an emergency I think it's acceptable! We are looking at possibly having to replace the sub now if this one is completely fried.
  5. On my combo you can set up a library where you can save and upload or download any sounds or settings you make onto your PC. It's fantastic for multiple bands etc. Just load up for that gig before you set off and all your sounds and settings are there without needing to take any pedals or laptops or anything.

  7. My wife loves this event so I shall refrain from commenting.
  8. A first gig of the year at an award-winning Glamping site in deepest Dorset. We - the Otis Jay Blues Band - had to tweak our repertoire to include more danceable/recognisable stuff as the glampers have come for a good time. Hence a closing Mustang Sally with three young ladies around the mic adding the responses! (Sadly not pictured…) The applause sounded tumultuous, though that was clearly assisted by downpours onto the clear plastic covering of the bar. Only mystery to be solved was why four cop cars and a paddywagon turned up during set two. A Blues Brothers moment😂 Gear: Flea Jazz, Elf, 2xBarefaced One10.
  9. I bought this because I liked the sound, the build quality, the quality comoponents (Hipshot ultralite tuners, Omega bridge), and the looks; but its a 35 inch scale which doesn't suit the post surgery limitations of my left shoulder so I'm afraid its got to go. Weight on our new sophisticated bathroom scales is 4.4 Kg and it has 0% subcutaneous and visceral fat!. It looks as new. Happy to post at buyers expense and risk, or meet up in London, or deliver/meet up within a reasonable driving radius. There's no case or gig bag but I would post well packaged in a box.
  10. IME when a room is so small that sub placement is an issue you don't need subs. Good quality ten or twelve inch mains shouldn't have any problems, as they should always be high passed no lower than 80Hz. As for central placement of subs, that should very seldom be employed anyway. The beauty of omnidirectionality is that subs can be placed out of the way.
  11. In 68 they changed to B neck 40- 42mm , I have seen a 67 B but not very many around
  12. Last night I was depping for a NE based big band - it was an absolute roast sight-reading these charts having never seen / heard them before! Still I managed to quite myself pretty well! SSBB Sr Duke.mp4
  13. £1250 takes this now. need it gone ASAP as stated above. thanks
  14. Real Gaffa Tape is low tack and does not stick. The cheap stuff sold as gaffa tape is really duct tape.. See https://advancetapes.com/products/gloss-cloth-tape-advance-gaffa/
  15. Thanks Surrpaul. feel free to send me on offer if you're keen. always happy to negotiate. thanks
  16. Hi Could you tell me the weight of this bass please? Thanks Dan
  17. Great amps! My home amp… I’ve gigged it and it kept up with our monster drummer in a small room.
  18. I just bought one of these tuners (wish I’d bought yours instead!) so I thought I’d just mention that they’re great. It was the only size that would fit on my pedalboard so I thought I’d give it a try. I was fully expecting to send it back but it’s super fast and stable. Much prefer it to my TU-2. Bargain for the price!
  19. Complete with the box and the blurb that comes with it. This works on the simple premise that the pure signal is boosted when engaged, so no extra distortion or overdrive to colour the sound. Great if you just need to be a bit louder for a section of a song. Price includes UK postage and packing. These seem to be going for about £35 second hand so priced to sell. Please note the underside is velcro as this was attached to a pedalboard. Generally in pretty decent condition and full working order. Check my feedback to see you can buy with confidence.
  20. I'm selling my amazing Boss MS-3 multi effects switcher. This has been at my feet for the last couple of years, but the band I play in no longer has need for bass effects so I'd rather move it on than have it gathering dust. It's an incredibly versatile piece of kit. Not only does it act as a switcher, turning your pedals on and off with the click of a single button, but it also possesses the power of 112 on-board effects in delays, reverbs, drives, pitch shifting and modulation to use in conjunction with the pedals you put in the chain. It contains three pedal loops to connect and activate your favourite effects as you please. Mix and match your own stompboxes and the MS-3's effects. This is also the perfect solution for a small pedalboard or when travelling light, as you can use the MS-3 standalone. With a built-in tuner, EQ and noise suppressor, you won't ever have to waste space on your board. It's in excellent condition, in perfect working order and returned to factory spec, and comes with original box and Boss PSU. I'm also including the Bright Onions DFM 2 pedal (£39.95) which is designed to work with the MS-3 and increases switching versatility. These seem to go for £300 used, so I have priced it accordingly.
