The Royal Institution has just made available on YouTube the 1989 Christmas Lectures series presented by Charles Taylor on the topic of music.

Do you have enough CDs? 🤨 Those RDs are lovely. They're in way better condition than mine.

Filling and drilling holes for tuning heads
PaulThePlug replied to Jamieboy's topic in Repairs and Technical
How about finishing the thread of with a pic? -
I did the same a few months ago, it works perfectly, especially if you fit the neck to a new body that hasn't had the bridge holes pre-drilled because you can position the bridge correctly without the old holes showing.

Aww my gawd Two RD Artists! Awesome.

I had exactly the same thought... 🤔 🤦🏻

We played Thursday night. I had no idea we had another gig on Friday last night until I found out on Thursday. Daryl
-
Dave, it was also good musically. After playing together for over 15 years we just seem to know where everything is going whether we've played the song before or not. We had some cool improvising happening. Daryl

Could someone clue me up about the out of phase pickups? Is it just a matter of reversing the phase of one of them? TIA

bass_dinger started following La Bella flatwound 5 string set with one missing . . .
-
I have a set of La Bella flat wound strings from a 5-string bass (B to G, 3 over 2 layout). Probably Deep Talkin' Bass, maybe the .045" to 0.128" set? However, the D string is missing (it snapped when I moved the string set from one bass to another). So, if anyone wants a partial set of flats, perhaps as spares, or to try out the feel of this brand, do please let me know. Free, because I can't justify charging for them. Robert

I've just taken a punt on a medium scale conversion neck I saw on ebay to try on my P bass. Will let you all know how I get on... (Apologies if these particular ones have already been discussed - it's a big thread!)
-
To be fair, I'd have been effing raging, too.

ardi100 started following Synth sound on Zoom B3n Pedal?
-
I can get a few usable synth patches from my Boss GT1-B, but it's hampered by the number of effects you can use in any one patch. I imagine it's much easier to build your own synth patches with fewer restrictions on the number of blocks of effects you can use?

What are your irrational prejudices? I have some bonkers ones...

If you look at Yes songs, they often seem to be crafted to fit the Ric fretboard. It used to bug me, but actually I never want to go that high o a bass. If I needed it I’d get a 5 or 6 string to add the extra (or a doubleneck or Stick). -
I'm just glad of the dot markers on the side of the fretboard 😂
-
I DON'T have a gig tonight. It doesn't stop me thinking my phone is going to ring any moment and have a bandmate asking where the heck I am because we're on in a minute! I'm sure I'm not the only one

Do you mean not enough frets? The originals had the Bass pickup right there, so no room for more frets.
