My daughter and her band mates are working together in the Woodsies crew bar and were asked to play the stage in there so took their instruments with them. With their youthful enthusiasm, they decided to wander around and see if they could blag another gig. Tonight at 10:35 they (Butane Skies) are playing the Avalon Inn and that will be their third gig so far with another possibility tomorrow as well, all fitting in around bar shifts.

It's about 20 years since I worked in car insurance software, but back then putting "musician" as your profession (as I did for some test data) would give a rather higher quote than other professions (like, er, "computer programmer").

Mine arrived today as well! There were some chancers on ebay trying to sell these at £20,000 - more than a real one! Naturally I offered £40.

Keeps it further away from his ears. (Not really a 'ride', though; more of a 'trash', a technical term, cymbal...)

Updated pics to show: *Swapped the castors/wheels to slightly bigger but much better quality set. Easier to move without trolley. * Resprayed spk ‘mount’ face (from white to black) using high quality/tough product as the white paint was flaking a bit. This has improved the look and protection. Loaned recently a fellow bass player (who was in a spot) and he raved about the quality of this combo. Actually said it had ‘better’ tonal options than his beloved Mark bass separates🤫🤐🤷🏾♂️😎 Shamelessly bumped for more views… -
Why is his ride cymbal so crazily high up tho?!

Never mind principles, what about the music? I'm very poorly today and only have Glastonbury for company. In most instances, I hope these bands aren't getting paid much. They don't deserve to be rewarded. It will only encourage them in the deluded idea that they're important and the music is worthwhile. For the most part, they're not, it isn't. What I enjoy most is the discrepancy between the rhetoric of the BBC and the reality. They threaten you with "a spellbinding cultural commentary set to groundbreaking soundtrack of edgy intricate guitar pop" and, inevitably, what turns up is just another crap indie band largely indistinguishable from the last one.

Sure, no problem. PM on its way.

Pete1967 started following Tinnitus!!!!!!!

I've had it for 10 or 15 years and is definitely a result of gigging and producing at higher than healthy volumes - for me it's a very high constant tone. Almost a perfect sinewave and around 11khz. It was always 'manageable' until July/Aug last year when it became almost unbearable... I'd had covid in May last year and by July I was suffering badly with all the classic symptoms of long covid, including rampant tinnitus. It's quite well documented that in folks with LC, any existing condition is turned up to 11. The panic, fatigue, gastric and cardiac symptoms are now, a year later, easing off, but the tinnitus is stubbornly refusing to subside. Virtually nothing helps, but an iPhone app called OTO has been very effective at helping me come to terms with it - it's not cheap though. It's basically a range of cognitive therapies that help you to habituate so it doesn't bother me as much as it did. It's still effin' annoying but no longer causes anxiety.
