A few places on the net, some on ebay, there is a magnetic paper shop, I got mine on aliexpress some time ago. If first saw it on a thread about the spector dimension and how the pickup didn't cover the whole 5 strings

I just sold a DI box to Graeme. As everyone else has said, a very easy guy to deal with, and one who makes Basschat a better place to visit.

Ooohh that's an interesting one Daryl. From memory i don't think i left for another better opportunity. I have left bands because things weren't ideal for me. I've left bands mainly because they weren't working but punk band faded away because the Glam band was getting busier so i guess that's similar. I was replaced in a band because i auditioned for an already gigging band. I did actually get offered the job but refused it when i found out they wanted to do midnight recording sessions on weekdays when i was working in morning at 7am. That was never gonna happen. Wish they had told me this upfront. Dave

Might as well bump this thread again , as I’m a big fan of theirs . Yesterday I ordered a secondhand moog Mavis in great condition , fully boxed etc Including next day dpd it was £185 ! Normal rrp new is £220-235 . When they first came out 3 years ago they were about £350 . The only reason I never used the free option ( Royal Mail ) , was because I may have missed delivery due to early morning dental appointment. Another happy customer, who will use again ! -
Probably most have seen this interview with AJ, but if not, it's worth 30 minutes of your time. He joins in with Simon Phillips for the second part of the interview and he was certainly a very fascinating character:

Did they offer you the gig and then changed their mind and didn't tell you ? Daryl

Just to tie off my previous off-topic post but I think I have fixed the vibrations in my BF Two10 cab. Judicious use of silicone sealant, epoxy glue and some rubber tape off fleaBay seems to have cured it.

I guess the flip side of that is that if you’re a creator, needing to generate traffic for your other content, then you might as well sound the bullhorn for stuff like this. Appreciate his style isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but it’s totally reasonable to call out the fakery, even if it is partially to drive awareness of your content. I do quite like him, I think he’s the ideal antidote to a of of the plastic veneer of the social media world of bass players who are essentially no carbon copies of one another for the most part. He’s at least got the authenticity of the every day bass player down to a tee.

That is interesting. Had I realised what you were doing I would have been interested to know what was under the covers of my Brawley and how balanced they are. Where can I find this magnetic paper?

It sounds nice for a one-knob compressor. It's not quite the Trace dual-band compressor, which is still, for me, the gold standard for onboard compressors, but it's good. Personally, I prefer to do most of my tone shaping, including compression, outside of the head and mostly just use the EQ on the head to adjust for the room (adjust bass and low mids for a boomy or solid stage, more mids for a smaller room, etc).

https://ebay.us/m/fdM1nW Ibanez Artcore with a weird looking dent on the rear body... shame as it's one bass I never got round to trying

Good to know, thanks. It's odd that the individual saddles cost more than some entire bridges, I've seen a Wilkinson one for about the same price as the one above, although a legit Fender one with slotted screw heads (instead of hex screws) is closer to £60..

I was immensely lucky to have met him in New York back in 2013. I was only in my early 20s and myself and my girlfriend at the time went to Blue Note to watch Hiromi, really just to catch a glimpse of my bass playing hero. Afterwards I managed to sneak upstairs by the dressing room and got talking to Simon Phillips, who I will attest to this day as one of the nicest musicians I have ever met. After chatting for 10 mins or so, I asked whether AJ was still around. SP mentioned that he was famously shy but that he’d see what he could do. SP proceeded to put his head round the dressing room and explain that he had a really good friend from the UK over that he’d love to introduce. After ushering me in (what a cool bloke for doing that, will never forget it), I got introduced to AJ, who was sitting in this old battered armchair like some demigod. I’d had several cocktails and quite a few beers by this point, but I was dumbstruck and totally lost for words. He was immensely shy, but so generous with his time. I was a young lad so he seemed genuinely enthused by me knowing virtually everything he’d played on in the late 70s and early 80s. I was so very sad to learn of my favourite bass player’s passing today but I’m quite certain his legacy will live on for many years to come. He was to my mind the greatest bass player alive, unmatched and unrivalled - subjective I know but something I really do, did believe.

I agree with all of this. I like the guys in Wunjos too. -
No I've really been bringing in my own strap. My wide Levys one. I've demoed too many basses in the past without them and I always play with one.
