Not forgetting their sampled appearance on Eminem's 'My Name Is'.

Shepster8316 started following An Unfortunate Mustang

This popped up on my FB feed last week. The owner knew nothing about it and was asking the bass group he posted it in as to why it has two control plates and knew nothing about the bass really. Can't recall if he'd been given it or found it in a sale, or something like that. Only showed that one photo of the front of the body so no one answering really saw the full condition. I'm also guessing from his post he'd not had it long and had never played it or dismantled it.

I kinda sensed that.😉 That's why I added the word "contributory" to my reply (meaning in a positive sense.) 😜

To be fair, when I have been testing the system, I did run the tops flat and that gave a pleasing sound. One of the issues is that the Typhon 8AXF speakers have significantly more power than the single sub, so it would be necessary to pull back the volume on the tops a lot compared to the subs. I will be taking both subs next month.

bassbiscuits started following D’addario 40-100 chromes
-
Set of D’addario Chrome flatwounds, gauges 40-100 and cut for 2+2 headstock. I bought them off fellow Basschatter @vinorange in January but have changed my plans for the bass in question so I haven’t even unpacked them. Link to the original advert here: Just looking to get back what I paid, which was £15 collected or £17.50 including postage in the UK. Cheers

2026 SE Bass Basheroonie - 4th October 2026 - Date Change!
Wolverinebass replied to NancyJohnson's topic in Events
I didn't say, I'm all good for the date change. Sadly, everyone else's eardrums won't be afterwards. -
Does everyone hold the new BB235 in equally high regard? I would like a backup P/J 5er and always had a soft spot for BB’s. It’s either that or a Sire I think. Si

Sounds reasonable. I got the Wonderlove for similar and the GR2 for around £150. Both actually from guitar players.

Faulty Katana GO Headphone Amp???
Useless Eustace replied to Useless Eustace's topic in Accessories and Misc
It’s absolutely unplayable on 5-A&C. 5-A in particular. As I say, I can easily live without them, but I want to be sure it’s not a faulty unit. I absolutely love the thing! Now I just need a Bass with a front mounted Jack. Why oh why do my favourite Guitar (Tele) & Bass (Stingray) have the jack in such an awkward place? - Today

Another lovely Haden part, this once from the next Scofield album from 1992, 'Grace Under Pressure'. The track is called 'Honest I Do' and is in 3:4 time. Not too difficult but a gorgeous tune nevertheless. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/honest-i-do-john-scofield/

And if a single voice on BVs isn’t enough do what they did years ago and get 2 different mics, tape them together and eq them a bit differently, make said one voice bigger.

Edited, cheers.

Yes, I'm just being mischievous. If you were curious you could do a search for his content but it has no TE specific relevance, more a sense of a chap with an enormous chip on his shoulder. I wouldn't recommend it.

DGBass started following Fender 2008 US Standard P bass £1065
-
"Fender 2008 American Standard P bass"😁 Very classy bit of kit and a real bargain. If anyone starting out ever fancies a P-Bass, just skip the Squiers, the MIM's, and anything else in between and go straight to an American Standard 😊 Will save you in the long run and you'll get a true classic and a bass that will last. IMHO. GLWTS

Just found a deadspot on my Dingwall. I am annoyed.
Mediocre Polymath replied to kwmlondon's topic in Bass Guitars
Interesting. I think, by the standards of this forum I've really not owned that many instruments, so I don't have the best sample size. Plus two of them are headless, so the potential for dead spots is more or less eliminated. It's entirely possible that there was a honking great dead spot on, say, my pawnbroker 1980s Yamaha fretless, but I wouldn't have noticed because that thing (and my ability to play it) was essentially one big dead spot. -
Please do!
