They're rubbish!! or maybe you just don't like them
HeadlessBassist replied to police squad's topic in General Discussion
Young people's music is so simplistic and obviously aimed at those with a short attention span. But I love Sophie Grey for some reason..?` People who call Basses 'Guitars' are clearly wrong (or chronically uneducated), as our hallowed instrument was designed as a more portable alternative to the Double Bass. Therefore it's an Electric Bass. Coldplay make me feel depressed. I just can't do it. A little bit of drive added to the sound of a Bass can be great. But distortion? Leave it to the guitardists to create that wall of nasty noise. Flatwound strings. I love the sound in isolation, but can never use them live. My sound just disappears into a deep, sonic hole in the ground. Tablature is the work of Satan himself. It's only representative of how one player played it, and often has no representation of the rhythm. Learning to read notation is so much simpler. Yes, yes, I know it's all just in my head... -

I wonder whether, rather than a riser, if you look into cab porting/resonance/sound design, you could build a small box that would act as a resonator to help projection when the endpin is stood on it? Something along the (admittedly hugely complex!) lines as this: Or, I guess, more prosaically, along the lines of a phone "amplifier"? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wooden-Speaker-Amplifier-Acoustic-Amplificate-Single-Attribute/dp/B0FBRQTJBH/ref=asc_df_B0FBRQTJBH?mcid=5be8bec0e25e394493a50ef0524acd74&hvocijid=10558217205620925100-B0FBRQTJBH-&hvexpln=74&tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=696285193871&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10558217205620925100&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9209855&hvtargid=pla-2281435176658&psc=1&gad_source=1

Yes, absolutely. I had a bit of a ferret around on Reverb and a single JB Hyperflux seems to be priced arounf the £200 mark, so there's your profit on the deal I suppose. If that T bird had frets and the seller could be perseuded into a more realistic price it would be an interesting project for someone- its essentially a great bass- but I appreciate that this is entirely wishful thinking on my part😆
-
I guess so - but 70s JB pickups aren't exactly something you can pick up off Thomann or Gear4Music, so if you really needed a set, your only option might be with a bass attached! If the calculation was to flip the bass for around what you paid for it, it sort of makes sense.

Yes, nothing else I can really add, incredible bass player and it seems like an even better person. terrible loss 😞 I've been obsessing about his gear and sound for 30+ yrs , from the early Roses with his 4005 and a Mesa 400+ rig through the Scream days until the reunion gear , I hope someone does a full feature on this, he had such great taste and tone. I recently found this photo recently which was a probably a pre 4005 paint splattered bass, any ideas what it might be ? Aria ? I think he also used a Laney Combo which you can see in the background.

I have no expertise at all but I have the feeling it was a typo and @Phil Starr missed out a zero: 110.15?

For sale my Eden Neo powered (passive) 2x10 made in PRC and USA made D115 cabs. Together they make an excellent full range stack. Relatively compact as the D115 is the shorter version. The Neo 2x10 is a lightweight cab and very manageable, the D cab a bit more weighty though not ridiculous. The 2x10 is 500 watts at 8 ohms and adjustable tweeter, the D115 is 200 watt at 8ohm. Both offered in very good used condition and perfect working order, of course. No tweeter in the D series cab so it benefits from Being part of a stack with the highs taken care of elsewhere, unless some sub reggae is the order of the day? Will consider splitting though, as usual, it'd be a bit of a shame. EX210N8 = £165 D115=£145 Collection much preferred, but i can package securely, if you can arrange the courier of your choice. Cheers. Craig.

One of my friends despises him 😆.He likes him as much as I ‘like’ Corden . I don’t dislike Miranda ,but she seems very wooden like. Sherwood Forest and very one dimensional with the on purpose gormless look. She is about as funny as Mel and Sue . ( is it Mel?🤔) 2 unfunny individuals who seem to have an in joke thing going on that I cannot be bothered to find out what it is .

Hi Pete, I just ran this and my Firefox browser got a very good report. I have Privacy Badger, but also saw a very strong recommendation for Ublock Origin. The guy who recommended CYT thought that Tor, Mulvad and Brave were the best browsers. I've never heard of them. I'm very non technical and all this is a puzzle to me. Thanks for the reply.

I felt enthused enough to think about what I was doing. For regular gigging I had a series of patches with various distortions, flanger, and generators (I play background chords and other effects as well), and when playing I switched between them with a external midi controller (as it is unreliable switching patches on the dwarf). There is a huge gap between pedal switches, so your post made me think, why am I even switching patches when I could easily just switch effects on and off. So now I have redone it all into one big more thought out patch, where I just turn on distortions or not (actually switch channels, I have several distortion sections from a mild overdrive to OTT and switch between them), and the synth parts I just switch the midi between the channels - at the moment the only problem is the footswitch switches between bank 1 and bank 2 and I have to remember which is which, for some reason you can't rename the output! At the moment it isnt right, the mild distortion is too mild, the heavy distortion too heavy and the echo is way ott, but enough that I can gig it and after each gig I can modify it.

Hi, everyone This works and I’ve been using it for a few years as a home practice amp. It’s a bit overkill for a bedroom amp as it’s LOUD = so I use the -15dB pad attenuator. Randomly the amp will have no sound output or go very loud- this is fixed by power off and on again. It can run for hours fine, or happen after 10 mins of use which is annoying. Pots/switches seem to be scratchy, so are getting worn or need cleaning etc. When working it’s a great sounding amp. Wedge shaped cab which can be used as an angled monitor. Scrambler overdrive circuit works well with clean blend Output Power (RMS): 40 Watts at 4 Ohms Speaker Type: 10" Ampeg custom speaker Dimensions (H x W x D): 478mm x 406mm x 330mm Weight: 14.0 kg Price includes postage
