Ah ok, thanks. Looks like my Boss SY-200 is gonna survive for a while yet on my little gigging board.

I'm not at the point where I want to quit anything at the moment, but frustrations are building. I'm in a band with a guy who has the absolute worst luck in the world - if something can go wrong for him it does, whether it's with his work, his health, his family life or whatever. Seriously, it's like he has been cursed or hexed or something. And, when things go wrong he tends to wallow in it. We ended up having to take most of last year off because he couldn't get his s**t together. And now he's just discovered he has a fairly serious health condition. The band and I always support him because he's like family, but it's frustrating. We're all in our 40s and 50s and aren't dreaming of rock stardom or anything any more, but actually being able to get together and play music and maintain at least a modicum of momentum is important! Also, our recent recordings were done in a way that I don't find particularly satisfying. We did an album a few years back and it was (IMHO) how it should be - started off with the whole band performing the songs together, then sprucing them up with overdubs, etc. It had that vibe you only get when you put people in a room and have them play together and play off each other. The last couple of recordings we did earlier this year were done a very different way, with a different engineer - we all recorded separately, and it was all done piece by piece. It was "assembling" music rather than "performing" it, the process had no flow, and I really didn't like working like that. The end result was decent, but it was missing something - it came out maybe a bit too "mechanical" for my taste (judge for yourself - the Bandcamp link is in my sig). Our singer loved working with this guy, and the other two found it a bit frustrating but thought it was worth being "stretched" to try something new. I just flat-out disliked the experience. Our remaining time over here may be limited so I'm reluctant to chuck it all in, especially when one of our number isn't in great health and needs our support. But, bloody hell, it's frustrating. Andy - best of luck with whatever you end up doing. The struggle is real!

Hey all, just sold Simon a PSU. All good from my end and would happily deal with again no issues. Peace.

So the fingerboard is 7.25” or 9.5”? also, the truss rod is a bullet type (“pre-EB”)? -

I can say it’s highly unlikely for the audio-triggered side.

It seems wrong to ‘like’ this post. I’m sorry to hear about how you feel; I hope you get your mojo back!

Not a reaction. I have no allergies. Their coating is just really rough when doing slides.

I would say that there is a little bit more grip than Elixirs, but not really noticeable.

It’s a shame when band situations rob all the joy out of making music. I’ve been a in few where I was meant to be enjoying it, but actually came away with a bad taste in my mouth from dealing with the various problems it brought. Sometimes it takes walking away from it and getting your balance back before deciding what to do next. Hope it all goes well, and good luck with whatever the next step brings.

Another great feature is the SVT212AV cab has feet cups on the top for the V4B head to fit into. Head isn’t going anywhere! At a rowdy gig I turned away from some punters that were getting too close, I tripped and fell towards my amp. The V4B didn’t budge and stopped me from falling and breaking my bass !! So heavy amps still have the occasional advantage !

Some people can suck the fun and cause drama wherever you turn. And there are people who want to control everything without taking anyone's feelings into consideration. If it's not a job, that shouldn't be happening. I'm having the same issues in another thing I do for fun. Politics. Good luck.

Good responses. I’m going to try these Dragon Skins out then. Though one thing I need to check - do they allow strings to ground properly at the bridge? (i.e. Is the coating conductive?)

Just gauging interest in this… 2010 US Stingray, 2EQ, CAR with rosewood board. One of the limited edition 133 basses, full fat ‘ray but with a soft gig bag case instead of a hard shell job. This is in excellent condition with one very minor ding on the top edge, and the pickguard is quite marked but obviously easily replaceable. Comes with a Hipshot D-tuner (long key though instead of short… doh), if you want the original tuner key I’ll chuck it in. I’ve also replaced the pickup with a Nordstrand MM4.2, which sounds flippin’ great. She’s quite heavy (10lb) but with a decent wide strap it feels ok. Loathe to post this but can at buyer’s (insured) expense, or can meet in person at either Portsmouth, Southsea, Southampton or Lymington (I’m on the I.O.W.)

Do you mind if I ask why not?

There’s a few different options but we use essentially a Roland electric drum kit trigger with a Roland drum module. We’re running two separate sounds/units through it. One is a kick drum (me) and the other is a snare/tambourine type sound (guitarist). They do a standalone kick drum with a built in module I think which is a simpler route if it’s just a single kick you’re after. But I can’t seem to find a link for it, so it may of been discontinued.

Had a very similar looking HW C64 years ago. That was such a great bass and sounded spot of with Rotosound flats. My current 4003 is on string set number 6 after a few years of searching for that "tone". I found it again with that same set of Rotosound flats. Enjoy, I'm sure you'll have lots of fun with your rather handsome new purchase !
