  2. He used Thomastik and La Bella. I've listened to a few demos of these strings on YouTube now that they are in the hands of mere mortals. They sound really good, a lot closer to the sound of Thomastiks than the more muted traditional La Bella tone. The Pino strings seem to have a nice meaty sound, for sure, but on what I've heard so far I can't say they sound any better than TI's or La Bella, both of which cost significantly less. FWIW, just about the best flats I've tried at any price are the Dunlops. In terms of tone, they're the perfect blend of the thump of La Bella's and the articulate sound of the TI's. Not cheap at £80 for a four string set but definitely worth investigating if you're in the market for these EB PIno strings.
  3. My take is that the string in question isn't making contact at the fingerboard side of the nut, but further back. This would result in what they're finding.
  4. Is the improved tracking on v4 going to filter down to v3?
  5. Has anyone of the bass world we all love had trouble contacting bass review mag? My subs have been paid but I haven't seen a mag for weeks and weeks and it's impossible to contact them. Has anyone else had this problem or is it me being stupid? Terry G
  6. My advice is if you're already playing a fretted Squier P, get a fretless Squier P to match it. It'll make the transition to fretless much easier as your fingers will naturally fall into the right positions. Top tip: make sure both straps are the same length too!
  7. yes +1 for the harley benton. My PB-50 is just fantastic
  8. Blister - Zimmer's Hole

  11. I've seen good reviews of the Harley Benton JB-40FL: https://www.thomann.co.uk/harley_benton_jb_40fl_3_tone_sunburst.htm
  12. If I was looking for a budget fretless, I'd get this: https://www.thomann.co.uk/harley_benton_jb_40fl_3_tone_sunburst.htm HB have a great reputation, plenty of folk on here use them as regular gigging basses.
  13. Thanks for your comments-yes a truly beautiful looking and sounding bass.
  14. Takes a bit of getting used to but feels so common sense when it falls into place...
  15. I don’t blame you tricky, if it has sentimental memories you have to keep it 🙂, they are both really nice 👍

  19. I’ve been using my Boss WL-20 setup for the last year with few issues. I haven’t noticed any loss of low end - I think that may be an ‘Internet wisdom’ hangover from early systems. Used live I’ve only had problems on two occasions: (1) Electronic drum kit and bodies between transmitter and receiver in a pub with very little ‘stage’ space. Used a cable instead. (2) Theatre gig. Fine during soundcheck, in fact I walked halfway up the banked seats in the auditorium to check out the FOH sound. But once the audience were in I kept losing the blue ‘RF found’ LED on the receiver. The signal itself didn’t drop out but I wasn’t going to risk it so in a break between songs I swapped to a 6m cable to preserve stage-strutting privileges as far as possible. I put it down to too many WiFi hotspots in the audience.
  20. Nowt like a gnarly knurled knob.
  21. Fairly sure. Not that it mattered, it was very competently done whatever their gender
