  1. Past hour
  2. The iron man is based on/a version of a smallsound/bigsound mini … it’s great
  3. Travis Dykes (Nashville Session musician) certainly seems to like the Harley Bentons (the second one featured on the video below is the five string):
  4. The tone switch is Series/Parallel switch.
  5. My birthday and Christmas fall within three days of each other and I was gifted this Retrovibe by the fam after seeing it in Bolton and commenting on it (not by any means as a hint; as a few of you know I'm selling my basses these days due to arthritis). Having been in touch with David it seems it was one of 8 made in this colour around 10 years ago. Absolutely immaculate although the pickups are apparently not the original fit items, so I will probs restore the right ones if I can find some. Interestingly it's a 33.25" scale and has the push pull on the bridge tome control.
  6. So my need for bass FX is sort of over. I’m playing guitar/Baritone a lot more. 1. TC Spectra Comp £50 (boxed) 2. Sonicake Reverb £20 (Boxed) 3. Marshall Regenerator Modulation £40 (Boxed) 4. TC Nether Octave £35 (boxed) 5. Korg Pitchblack Tuner £25 (No Box) Postage in UK will be £3 per Pedal Paypal F&F if I know you, Bank Transfer or Cash on Collection in Manchester (M27) The ODB3 isn’t mine so can’t sell, and the Iron Man was made by our very own @LukeFRCand I can’t recall what it’s based upon, is a lovely drive pedal…I could be tempted to sell - call it £65, no box. Trav x
  7. I keep one these permanently in the back of the car as an emergency spare. Very nice piece of kit, totally dependable.
  8. Merry Christmas (I Don't Want to Fight Tonight) - Ramones
  9. Ain't Got Nobody To Grind My Coffee — Clara Smith
  10. A Happy Christmas to you all.
  11. Definitely US. This came from a parts bass made by a Sadowsky employee. No real markings on it to identify as such. The pickups were scrubbed out and headstock left blank for fear of repercussions. I still have the neck - Brazillian rosewood fingerboard, Graphtech nut, Schaller tuners.
  12. I got singing lessons from t'other half. Could be a subtle (or not so subtle) hint. Never has a singing lesson in my life. I used to sing solos when I was younger in primary school and then I grew up or something like that<cough> and can now strip creosote off fences at 10m. Fish wives and RSMs aren't in it.
  13. Today
  14. Final flagellation of deceased equine.
  15. Only thing music related was a DVD of the Bob Marley film One Love. Which is excellent btw.
  16. Here is mine ... Eberhart meinel ❤️
  17. I haven't played that HB, but I have an HB MB5 and an HB Marquess and they are both excellent.
  18. I Like Driving In Mocha - Madness
  19. I owned the Squier briefly and thought it was excellent in every way. Only got rid of it to maintain a one in one out policy. Never played a Harley Benton before.
  20. As I'm a fan of flat(ter) radii I would definitely look elsewhere. ACG for example or even a Warwick Corvette.
  21. Thank you kindly. Certainly sounds good to me.
  22. I mentioned earlier today I had 'another idea' - I've implemented it, and it works! When thinking about what didn't work for me about the stacked-knob setup, the main issue was the tone pot taper, where there was little effect until the bottom quarter turn of the pot. I removed the extra 56nF caps and added a 510k resistor between the wiper and the 'hot' lug of each tone pot, thereby converting the existing 500k tone pots to 250k with a somewhat different taper. The tone pots behave much better! Curent plan is to to stick with this, but also acquire a 3-control plate and build it as Vol/Switch/Tone or Vol/Blend/Tone. Watch this space...
  23. Hi fella ill take the EMGs,I’m in Manchester, are you okay posting them cheers
  24. Fixed.
  25. Henceforth known as the Pyjama bass
  26. The good thing about buying a Fender Jazz is that even mediocre shops stock multiple options. Just go and play as many as you can, one will speak to you. If you must buy sight unseen, then out of your choices I'd go Am Pro II.
