'Torrefaction' is heat treating timber above 180⁰ causing the maillard reaction - there are many processes wikipedia lists hot nitrogen, steam, oil and even molten metal has been used. The extreme version prepares wood pellets for furnaces. A less extreme one produces cladding for use in saunas. It increases stability and resistance to humidity (to the extent guitar necks may not need lacquer) but reduces strength. Presumably the ideal is enough treatment to improve stability without causing brittleness. In the long run, therefore, it may not follow that more extreme or expensive processes are better - although I imagine a well controlled process is more predictable. No one seems to have actually tested or decided if they SOUND better or are more or less durable yet. But they look nice and the thin finishes that can be used feel nice. My guess is that Harley Benton's caramelisation and roasting differ in detail - if only by being done in different places.

The original 3-screw Yammy tuners do turn up from time to time so it's worth keeping an eye open. Apropos of (probably) nothing, the same units but with cloverleaf keys were used on Tokai & various other MIJ basses in the early 80s, again, individual units & occasional full sets turn up on Ebay & Reverb sometimes.

Whodunnit? - Genesis

My tip of the day is... Keep the truss covers removed. I'm always adjusting truss rods, 1/8th of a turn here, tiny tweak there.

I had that model amp 20 years ago, and the Electroluminescent panels were notoriously unreliable. I had mine fixed once, then completely replaced with an NOS panel the repair guy (a former Trace employee) had available. If the panel itself has gone then you may just have to put up with it never working, but it might possibly be the control circuit. Good luck

Yes I have a small pile of manuals in 'interesting' English. It's slightly simplified as it seems most cheap PAR cans use the same protocol (internal controller chip?) One small mercy... despite online reviews saying it's not so, and not being in the manuals, pressing enter after setting the dmx address saves it to memory even on cheap PARs.

To second Beedster's excellent points... As someone who has bought a neck without tuners (funnily enough exactly the same neck as you are selling - lovely neck if you like em chunky, ) I would not do it again as it is indeed a pain and quite an expense to get it sorted and even after measuring the holes I had to add some plumbers tape to get them to fit snugly. Even if you stick some bog standard ones on, it makes it something someone can use straight away and wait until they find better tuners if they want.

This would be a lot of fun to play live
