Schroeder/Markbass setup - blown away!
BassmanPaul replied to pantherairsoft's topic in Amps and Cabs
Schroeder is name I haven't seen used for many, many years. I have never seen one out in the wild. -
They just sort of appeared in my vicinity. After the first few I made some good friends within the company and more started popping up wherever I was 😁 Next thing I knew I'd at least one of every model from 1978 to 2010. Wish Peavey had made stamps, be a damn sight easier to store 🤣

Talking of Elton John, it was great to see David Paton in the band. Looked like a vintage P Bass he was playing. Another great unsung bass player. So clever, so tasteful, so inventive. It must have been around that time that he was playing on tracks for Elton's Ice On Fire album, including Nikita which was a classic example of an ,'80s big hit where the bass guitar is so prominent like you seldom hear on pop records nowadays.

Congratulations on your first bass...

AKA: replace the ECC83 tubes with ECC81 tubes. They're not as gainey and give a cleaner sound.

I've got a Yamaha BB2025 and the low B is awesome on the P-style pickup, even with the relatively light 120-gauged string I like to use. I suppose it depends on your definition of a P Bass because the you can definitely hear elements of that Fender sound in the Yamaha but it's got it's own distinct identity too. There's so many factors to considering what makes a low B string sound sufficiently uniform with the other four strings. I think the bridge design plays a huge part and the bridge Yamaha designed for those basses with a narrow witness point over the saddle really helps give clarity and even harmonics in the notes.

Decided to move on my last two remaining 3Leaf Audio pedals. First up is a 2016 Octabvre Mini. According to the 3Leaf site, this was an edition of 400. We all know how good these are. Then we have a 2018 metallic gold over 2-tone white Proton MK3. Great little envelope filter and very easy to dial in. The 3Leaf site says these were an edition of 100. Both pedals are in excellent condition and have velcro on the bottom. No boxes for either I’m afraid. These two pedal do work very nicely together. Just saying… Octabvre Mini £240 incl UK postage Proton MK3 £210 incl UK postage Or you can pick them up from Peckham SE15 or meet up in central London if that works. My Feedback on here:

I got a template and a proper punch as well, the problem is when I actually hit it with the drill. I don't have a big machine, just a hand drill with step heads. If I am off 0.5mm to the left here, and 0.5mm to the right there, this is barely noticeable with some pot wiggle, but when two boards needs to be aligned for header pins, and the footswitch can't wiggle, and you realise both audio jacks are just a TAD further from the enclosure than they should be... it's suddenly a bigger problem 😁 But honestly, I am surprised the prototype is not a lot worse. I did not expect a lot from some first experiment. Now I wonder if it works. The Pot Hell will confirm hopefully in a couple days, depending on free time. Will also need to adjust the design using what I learned.

The green is the colour the Shoreline Gold became when the yellowed lacquer was applied

Personally, I’d divorce you if you bought something so horrid! A Hawkes double bass is a different matter…
-
That’s a lot of sockets! my method is to print the drill points on paper, then prit stick it to the enclosure and centre punch through the paper
-
Hmm... Turns out it's not as easy as all that..!

You won't get either trust me

Double bass rebuild - not for the faint of heart!

About £300 new. Maybe £200 used. It will likely beat a £200 wooden bow with ease but as you can buy new for £300......

Blimey. Why Peavey?

Blooming lovely. Is that green a true representation of what it looks like in the flesh? Inspired choice if it is.

Don't we all consider a brand new purchase as a bit of a toy to play with? I know I do! LOL As I said: Enjoy! I hope you get the same pleasure I get from playing through my B15NF
-
If you buy it, do not start about putting frets to it, no!
-
Well, here's a weird one... Thisnis a jazz I bought a bit ago - never seen or heard of these, or even where you'd get the logo. Looks cool though. Mojo without imitation.
