  2. Many thanks @silverfoxnik and @Wombat, my time is a little tied up for the next few weeks so any help would be hugely helpful. I'll check a few logistics this end and drop you both a PM 🙏
  3. Oh man, I had one of these back in the 80s. Gigged the blazes out of it. Wonderful big phat pharty sounds, I wish to god I'd never flogged it. In fact, that pattern of paint bubbling round the Roland logo on the right hand end looks so familiar, this might even have been my actual one.
  4. Vast improvement, perhaps a little more run-of-the-mill than the stock version but much prettier IMHO. I love the combo of the pearl pickguard, block inlays and fingerboard binding.
  5. The pink ones are paisley, not flowers. The originals used wallpaper!

  7. Hi Mike , Leaving tomorrow night and in York on Thursday
  8. Paul very kindly honoured his promise to contact me 1st should he wish to move on the lovely Purple Charvel I sold him 15 years ago. It's now back where it belongs in my collection.... upgraded and in a case.... and delivered to my door. Can't say fairer than that!
  9. I've had a few Yamaha bassess, from a pointy headstock thing I forget the model number of but with a superskinny neck profile to a selection of broad basses - BB414 via a BB424, BB425 to a BB5000 that I imported from Japan. Fabulous things, I was particularly fond of the BB414 which I think, for the money, is hard to beat. Now all gone, mainly because a/ I find them too heavy and b/ I don't play long scale basses any more. What I would like to try, but have yet to own, is the BB VIS - medium scale, slightly lighter body, single pickup broadbass model. Or, if the weight was right, maybe a BB VIIS, which is a PJ variant of the same medium scale, smaller body. What I do still have, and it is arguably the best bass I have ever owned - certainly my favourite - is a Yamaha SB-35. Medium scale 'SG-shaped' double cutaway, single pickup. It is pretty straightforward, nothing complicated about it at all, but it is a joy to play and it just sings. That one is going into my coffin with me.
  10. I have a 2012 MIM that looks just like that. I added the black scratch plate, swapped the tuners for Hipshots (HB7 I think), swapped the pick-up for a Tonerider P, replaced the string tree and set it up properly. Result is top-notch. GLWTS!
  11. Thanks @Wombat Probably best to bring @Beedsterinto this conversation to see how we can take it forwards... But sincere 🙏 for offering to help with this! Chris - what are your thoughts??
  12. Best purchases: A beautiful Spector Euro CST (Jap ltd version) in desert island blueburst, imported from Japan with the assistance of Bass Japan Direct.: My old Charvel 3B, which I bought back after stupidly selling 15 years ago... and now upgraded with EMG-X pickups. The fantastic LHZ HL-1 HAZard LAMPS preamp pedal. The sound of a classic US Spector Haz Labs preamp in pedal form. Brings all non-Haz loaded basses to life, particularly passive basses! and last, but certainly not least(!!) the amazing LFSys Monaco 600W 8ohm bass cab courtesy of @stevie. Lightweight, punchy, authoritative and loud... with wonderful dispersion. Worst purchases.... none that I can think of. I like to do my research before parting with moolah.... 😉👍
  13. It's a practice tool. It isn't meant to be any use on stage. Same form factor as the Boss Katana Go, Fender Mustang Micro, Blackstar Beam Solo, etc, but with the ToneX captures instead of amp models.
  14. selling my incredible 1975 Musicman HD130 amp. Bought this back in 2021 and had a flight case made it for it straight away. Was serviced just before I bought it as well. Sounds amazing.

  15. I’ve heard some people have had some success using cat litter ( unused, before the comments roll in…)
  16. Thanks all
  17. Bi Carb - sprinkle liberally then leave for 24 - 48 hrs, then vacuum out Bi Carb should absorb the damp and associated smell.
  18. Quite pleased with this shot the wedding photographer got of my bass at my brother-in-law's wedding a few weeks ago.
  19. Baby Come Back - The Equals
  20. that's the numbers i recall
  21. Easily my best acquisition was this Hohner fretless jazz, used, from a BCer, I’ve upgraded the electrics to CTS etc and put a Fender high mass bridge on it, everything is as it was. The pickups are awesome, stock I presume, and the neck is lovely…. Its for a specific album track we’re recording, and I haven’t put it down since. The worst thing I bought was an Ibanez SR506 that doesn’t work, but possibly my own fault to be fair. It’ll be the first project of 2026.
  22. Boomerang — Geno Washington & The Ram Jam Band
  23. I've had a smattering of Yamaha basses, and they've without exception been superb instruments. The neck on my RBX765A was so good, I got Jon Shuker to copy the neck profile for the custom he built for me. I don't have a Yam at the moment, but I would sell a kidney for a TRB5P.
  24. Well I guess I’m about half way. Prolly have space in the car if it’s any help…
  25. I've Thrown It All Away - Weezer
  26. Today
  27. Luvverly. I hadn‘t seen an AGB with the aged look. I thought they only offered that finish on the AFB. Do you feel that the fixed bridge affects the sound much? They are less faff than the moving ones, but is that at the cost of the woody sound?
