Yes using the power supply. I will try more options tomorrow. I really want to love it but any trace of hum is a deal breaker for me.

One of the Origin Effects Bassrigs will get you there. Maybe the Black Panel as that dirt tone is probably just the Fender amp behind him!

I have just ordered the 60003 set up for my 1990 Thumb Bass which has just started to make a 'static type powering up sound' for a couple of seconds after plugging the jack in. The tone module is the same as in your picture. The original spec of mine was... bass @ 100 Hz and treble @ 2.5 kHz, so I am hoping the new one to sound the same.

Agent 00Soul started following Flats on a fretted Jazz bass.
-
All my basses are strung with flats, including my Jaguar which has the same pickups as a Jazz. Rounds and grounds just didn't do it for me. I'm in a bit of a musical bubble here where we all use flats, but I'm assuming from the amount of stuff for sale that the vast majority of players use rounds primarily?

I'm going to fret it with some rungs from an old rusty ladder I've got in the shed... -
Silky999 started following Lacquer peel repair?

Is it poly or nitro? If it nitro, then sand and feather the edges with 600-800 grit and respray, the nitro will melt into the existing layers and you will be able to wet sand and spray until you get a flat finish. It’s similar to blending in a water slide decal on a headstock under nitro clear coat. If it’s poly, it’s much more of a nightmare as poly does not melt into the previous coats and whatever you do you are likely to get witness marks where the old and new coats overlap. I had similar where I slipped installing a tuner and scratched a headstock, it was impossible to get it to blend. I had spent ages spraying and sanding back over my logo so couldn’t face stripping and starting again so I sold the bass with money off. I vowed never to use poly instead of nitro again. If you do go blending poly route, it’s a similar process to the nitro. The area appears too large to use CA glue to fill. If Poly, I would be inclined to consider a neck plate to cover most of the obvious part of the repair. You could consider a full strip and refinish if it is a precious bass but it would need to be repainted and then clear coated due to the impossibility of stripping the poly without damaging the paint layer.

Turn up late to rehearsal, lock the door and burn the place down? Well, it worked for the Saxons anyway.

And then you'll call me saying "I've bought another fearless one, do you want it, it's definitely not for me?" -
@Chienmortbb @Pow_22 Thanks for the information. With all the talk of valve tone and the thump of class A/B power amps and the heft - there, I said it 😱 - that you get from old school amp designs like this, coupled with what I think is pretty much a give away price, I'm surprised this is still hanging around. Someone somewhere mentioned that this series of amps wasn't particularly desirable but given that they doesn't suffer from the wooly sound some folks complain of with Ashdown amps I think they're an underrated gem. But as I gig almost exclusively on IEMs these days and have a light weight amp and cab for the occasional dep gig with backline, this is sadly in the way and needs to go to a new loving home.

My perfect gig… Somewhere within an hour from home, with good parking and an easy load in. Catering of which the band can partake is always good. A responsive crowd, decent pay and no one requesting Oasis.

What are your irrational prejudices? I have some bonkers ones...
Misdee replied to kwmlondon's topic in General Discussion
I can't entertain the idea of buying a bass with blocks but without binding. It aught to be illegal. -
Correct, there's a lot more to a quiet cooling system than just the fan, and a lot of ways to inadvertently turn a modified amp into a perpetual paperweight...

Unless the belief that they sound and feel different is irrational. -
Are you using the supplied power supply? Try running it on USB C

And for the people who join up and make one post, a very positive review for some shop, or a for sale ad, and never reappear.
