  2. My taste in vocal mics appears to slightly non- standard. Sennheiser e945 for lead vocal to cut through. EV PL80 for a vocalist who needs their voice warmed up. Audiotechnica AE4100 which is similar in flavour to SM58 but better in every way.
  3. Digging in the Dirt - Peter Gabriel
  4. I have exchanged a few messages with Laurence over the course of this year as I was very interested in a bass he was looking to move on. Sadly for me at least I didn’t manage to raise the finances as I had instruments to sell and no takers, which is often the way when something comes along. Timing is everything it seems! He is an absolute top bloke, very polite, patient, self effacing with a great sense of humour. Clearly he is also a very decent human being!! I am really glad you got your bass back as it looks like a beauty. I played a Suhr Jazz at BassBros recently which was indeed a wonderful instrument and it’s easy to see why you love ‘yours’ so much. Congratulations and well done Three for making such a magnificent gesture. ❤️
  5. It’s a wonderful thing, language. I think anything that helps a potential audience identify what kind of stuff you’re playing is helpful. I remember, pre-internet going to see bands that I knew nothing about, and couldn’t find out. Sometimes their name gave you a clue, but not always. I’m considering relaunching my acoustic trio as playing Country n’ Sludgebucket.
  6. Please tell me you use this with a wedding band for Mr Brightside etc
  7. I don't think the neck is roasted, it looks like an antique tinted varnish. Very nice though 🙂
  8. Once you have decided which tuning you are going with it would be worth giving Newtone Strings a call who have a great reputation for custom gauge sets.
  9. Set of 4 hipshot licenced 1/2inch chrome clover head tuners. Set of 3+1 so suitable for Musicman stingray or Sterling 4 string. Excellent condition. These are not reversible so won’t fit a 4 in a line headstock
  10. that would be more reasonable but maybe 6 bridges on a single bass could be pretty cool and make a big frankenstein monster machine with 6 different sets of strings flats rounds guitar upright classical violin
  11. Price drop to £75
  12. Personally I really like Birchwood-Casey Tru-Oil. Old pictures of bass before final buff and set up:
  13. that was a nice thing of three to do
  14. I've been very lucky with all the instruments I have purchased "unseen" 1 certainly needed proper luthier fix
  15. Have a bump on me - these things are awesome
  16. Today
  17. I think Yamaha fits that "slow but steady" (and genius) Japanese innovation leit motif. Probably a generalization or even a cliche. I'm still OK with that, and I think that's why we all love our trusty Toyotas, Yamahas and stuff. I've owned some BB 5ers and currently I'm unconditionally in love with the Yammies I own now, SBV-500 and SB500S, best Jazz sounding creatures I've ever owned (I like them punchy and aggressive).
  18. Under The Graveyard - Ozzy Osbourne
  19. Nice one…..enjoy (again)!
  20. Shame about the yuk colour, nice Bass though, but not for me thanks.
  21. I use Liberon Finishing Oil which dries to a hard finish and hand sand it in. Depending how many coats you apply dictates the level of sheen from satin to a good gloss. I then wax, nitro or poly. This wenge and elm is just Liberon and nothing else and was only a couple of coats in at this point.
  22. Hi Mickey If this is still available send me a PM and we can do that Dirty Knob stuff.
  23. Possibly my fav prog album at the moment. Dave
