Like you I’ve been a GK guy for years. However I love the newer Rumble stuff - have a 500 combo which is superb, and a 100 combo for small gigs which is nearly as good. Handy for us ‘older gentlemen’ too….😁

With BF cabs it's mud in, mud out. I'd be looking at my EQ for that one. I reckon your band thinks you are too loud because they aren't used to the enhanced dispersion well designed cabs provide. When I sound check I'm setting up the bass for me, the stage and the audience. If I'm too loud I'll turn down, if the rest of the band starts up and they drown me out I'll turn up again. I play in a blues rock trio and regularly have to turn up during the first number, when I've worked out if the guitarist is on 11 or 15 tonight.

For sale, recently purchased items from various bass chatters in an effort to start a pedal board. Realised I was better off buying a multifx unit instead. Selling for what I paid for them.. Boss CEB-3 Chorus £38 Boss CS -3 Compressor/Sustainer boxed £40 TREX power supply including five connectors boxed £40 I have a pedal train Nano+ including storage bag/case £40 I hope the sellers don’t mind but I have used their photos for ease and there quality, as mine would be shockingly bad

So this little thing just keeps on impressing me. Tried her out through my EV ZLX15P’s last night and it sounds great. The four band eq on each channel is quite powerful but still musical, and the six band eq on the main outs is similarly musical, and you can make both of these semi-parametric if you want to adjust the width of your boost or cut, but in truth I don’t think I’ll need to do this for most of my planned uses. One thing I’ve noticed is the metering between the hardware and the software is slightly different, probably due to more graduations on the software side (i.e. four bars of yellow on the app equates to 1 bar of yellow on the hardware LED meter). The two effects processors work as you would expect, with a couple of really nice reverbs that work well with VOX and acoustic guitar. This weekend I intend messing around with the USB out recording, so expect a further update later. Ooh one last thing, if you get one of these, when setting up your channels, play around with the input presets - some are not what they seem. I was feeding the desk with a DI signal from my bass pedal board which I know to be a super quiet DI out. I used the ‘line’ preset and found it to be noisy, like very noisy. Changed the preset to bass guitar and the noise disappeared whilst the signal strength improved. So there is obviously quite a bit going on in the presets so you might have to try a few to find the best one for your particular instrument (note: not all physical inputs have the same presets available).

Even though they're yanks, it's good they use the correct spelling 😜

He was offered the 'Stones gig, but couldn't take it as he was committed to Living Colour. But then Vernon folded the band 2 weeks later (ot something), so he could have done it, but by then Darryl had it.

The issue with long leads and wet ground is that your body is at one voltage (that of the ground you are standing on) and the earth of your kit is at another voltage (either an earth spike in the place the power comes from or more likely via the neutral wire to a local substation many meters of cable away). The resistance between those two earth points is likely quite high so the current that flows through you is too small to trip an RCD .... BUT you will still feel it. My house is very poorly grounded and you can easily get a tingle if using power tools in the garden in bare feet (!!) or off the stainless toaster or microwavestanding on the damp kitchen floor. TBH there isn't a lot you can do. Using one of these portable battery generators (eg a Jackery Power Station) is one way to get around it. Another way is to use an isolation transformer and an earth spike near where you are standing (getting a bit techie at this point). In any case if an extension lead is the only option, do use an RCD - you may still get a tingle but it would trip before you got electrocuted. Try not to play in bare feet on wet grass 🙂 (PS: I'm an electrical engineer, I'm not making it up)

That's a surprise. Their quote for me was 4 times the quote I accepted. 1200 quid instead of 300.

Yes, I think I've seen photos of it. Daryl

Infamy! Our worship band has a little recognition - we've been invited to play at another church next week at special a diocese-wide service. I'm going to dust off my upright for the occasion

I would like to think that any promotor putting us on and any audience coming to see us would be somewhat disappointed if there were different people on stage to those they were expecting. Any bass player replacing me in this band, trying to use a standard 4-string bass would find much of the set challenging and some of it completely impossible to play. That's not because I'm some "monster" player (I'm not by any stretch of the imagination), but simply because they wouldn't have access to a lot of the correct notes I play. As the live sound is stripped back to vocals, synth, bass VI and drums, what I play is integral to the overall band sound and playing something different because your choice of instrument is different to mine is not going to cut it.
