  1. Past hour
  2. I imported a Heritage jazz from Japan and it oozes quality. GLWTS.
  3. Just a bit of an update, and a huge thank you to everyone who commented or reacted. With just one gig in the diary and with a regular venue switching to an agent, we have called time on the band. The singer started off a little defensive (as you would expect) but did see that it was right in the end. He admitted that some gigs completely wipe him out and he has good and bad days more generally. We all wish that it was not so, but to carry on (in front of 'strange' crowds) would expose him to criticism (and possibly even ridicule) and that would be far worse. We will bow out on 7th October. More importantly, we are parting as chums. Thanks again for the support people have given. This is a remarkable place - and this is demonstrated so often here.
  4. As the title says, we now have a PA subsection of the Amps and Cabs section, can we have a separate For Sale Area too?
  5. My brother likes his Italian food and he says it was a different class, especially compared to the previous works outing they had at one of Jamie Oliver's establishments, where they overpaid for small portions of very mediocre food and most folks stopped off for chips on the way home because they were still hungry.
  6. Incredibly reluctant sale - but honestly, could do with cash at mo, but if it doesnt go it's a sign and i'll regret this - my dream P - John Deaconesque 1972 that was originally LPB has been stripped back and the seal is like the silkiest feel ever - it plays like a dream - sounds incredible - has been modded to house EMG active pickup but put back to original pups - it's alder body so very light (8ish lbs) and super resonant - i often forget i'm unplugged jamming at home - this thing just plays itself - with B nut width of 41mm and proper rosewood board - the frets are worn down but it makes it so smooth - just had deluxe set up at Doghouse Phil's workshop with brand new GHS pressurewounds - a few dings here and there but for a 53 year old bass not that many have pictured biggest - comes with 3 scratchplates- black, red tort and original 72 white that's aged see pics -it's actually slightly a tad darker wood than in pics - the sticker on back of headstock is removable no problems, but thought it looked cool Priced to sell at £2350, is my bottom line (it's less than what i paid and work/ strings ive put into it) - so wont haggle - that's the price and you're getting a stellar bass - I have a double box i can send it in or for £50 extra can throw in a case I'd rather you come to Clitheroe or within an hour to play it and fall in love with it (i feel a bit sick writing this) but postage to UK will have to include insurance so prob £50 again If i've forgotten anything or you want to come see it - or have questions please contact me
  7. From the videos I've seen of your bands I don't think you've much to worry about in the playing stakes. I wish I was as terrible as you!
  8. Looks like there's 14 badges according to my profile. No real idea what they mean or how to get them though 🤔 I'm assuming that being a "veteran" translates to "spends and incredible amount of time on Basschat instead of practicing" 🤣🤣
  9. They used to be rebranded KHL instruments, Korean company but will most likely be built elsewhere and also sold under the HK brand in Europe (German distributor IIRC) and Wolf in the USA, you might get more info by searching those. They made an appearance again on eBay a year or two ago, more Fenderish than the prior more original body shapes. May just be whoever owns the brand using in on import lines, from what I remember they were cheap but good.
  10. I have atonerider in one of my bitsa P basses. Sounds incredible
  11. And it sounded fab with the Ashdown cab too. I have some Ampeg grill cloth that I'm going to put on the Ashdown cab to make it match
  12. New word of the day. That's a beauty, if I needed a P I would be very interested in taking it off your hands.
  13. You nake my point! Sailing may be maudlin and mediocre, but it's like a duck - going like mad under the surface. You won't find many modern pop chart hits with the complex and continually changing phrasing of its bassline. After the slow start there are barely two bars repeating the same rhythmically or melodically.
  14. no I had a black one with white dots on it. Came from Livewire in Cardiff. It's also been owned by two other basschatters
  15. Well that’s the oil sanding finished and just the final coats of Liberon Finishing oil now. The chatoyance on the Sapele is gorgeous and the grain is starting to really come out. The Liberon is such a joy to work with.
  16. It's not a stroke if genius as double tracking has been used since the early days of multi tracking recording. Mick Karn's tone on studio records, for example, comes from the fact that he always doubled all his parts getting that superb chorus tone, because of the slight differences in tempo and note placement (hey we are not robots). In metal, the kick of the drum has been triggered on a second track (to allow MIDI tone manipulation) for decades to get that powerful tone you hear on most recordings.
  17. The mods and admin can use discretion in deciding whether to dekete entirely ot, if a thread needs to be referenced in follow upss with specific members, it can be hidden.
  18. I was never encouraged to do music. My parents were both musical but just couldn’t be bothered I was inspired to bass by watching Adam Clayton at live aid. I’m no more talented now than I was then but I live the feeling of “filling out the sound”
  19. Yep always be prepared. I take spare everything except strings. I take 2 basses, 2 amps, batteries, straps, tools, 2 sets of Glam gear and even 2 boots. 😂 Dave
  20. Poster that went to a few cinemas for Love Story 2008 - a documentary bio on one of the 60s best bands - only a very few were made - i got it as i interviewed the director for a radio interview - sadly the DVD long lost I've had it on my wall ever since but now it's time for a change - grab a bit of very cool memorabilia 100cm x 70cm framed in good condition Can post will be bubble wrapped and cardboard - but will be about £15 - or pick up Clitheroe or will meet within hour of Clitheroe
  21. As an Alice In Chains fan and Spector player Ive been trying to get the Mike Starr tone and just not quite matching the grit. Then I see this video. Could this be right? Is it double tracked with an acoustic? Was this a stroke of genius or something used before?
  22. £350? Open to swaps if needed: Boss Katana 210 Ashdown abm IV 600w.
  23. It's an easy mistake to make. The P and the T are on the same row of the keyboard at least 😂
