casapete started following Bass amp for acoustic band setups
-
In my acoustic duo I use a Fender Rumble 100V3 combo. I plug a Fender Kingman V2 acoustic electric bass into it and it sounds really good to my ears. I’ve also used this combo with other small line ups including percussion and it’s coped very well. The best bit is it’s weight - 22lbs / 10 kg. People who pick it up can’t believe how light it is, and it is the best thing I’ve bought for years. I also have a Rumble 500 combo and that is a great bit of kit too.

Lakland Skyline Hollowbody 30 inch scale
Light Grenade replied to Alberto Rigoni's topic in Bass Guitars
I've just picked one of these up and I'm awaiting delivery. My first bass purchase since being more than content with my Lakland PJ for 6 years. Excited! Does anyone have any recs for strings? I play TI Jazz Flats with my PJ, which I love, so I'd be looking for something similar vibe wise, maybe with slightly higher tension to offset looser tension that comes with the SS. I have zero experience with short-scale basses, so any advice would be grand! -
la bam started following A lost art. Trace elliot
-
Picked this up (literally and factually) today - but only just Trace elliot gp12 smx 410 combo What an absolute beast. I've always wanted one of these. All the bands in pubs when I first started had one. And I longed for one... Ended up with a 100w commando amp instead Its a lost art. Lost to history if we are not careful. THIS is how bass amps used to be. What has happened with today's amps????!! (I'm a tonex IEM user so take with a pinch of salt). Everything has been done with care, the best materials and purely sound based. However it's aesthetically gorgeous too. Its absolutely a work of genius and has been built with real pride. It's built like a tank. Built to last (it's 32 years old and everything still works perfectly). It has everything you need. Mute switch Gain stage and led guide to correct gain. Passive active switch Input blend dial from pure solid state to valve preamp. 12 band eq. Switchable. Switchable 3 stage pre shapes. Graphic level dial. Low compression dial High compression dial. Eq balance dial. Effects level dial. Effects input dial Send return Output level Earth lift. And what a sound! In excellent condition with the originally paperwork and warranty too! Gees, this is a proper amp! Long live the old amps!

I’ve been very close to buying the 8lber a few times this week from Peach, and this was the one big thing that puts me off (not gonna open a can of worms about why!). You’ve saved me £1400, so thanks 😂 -

kodiakblair started following G&L in trouble...?
-
Not half. Did you the one where some arse said he was regretting not buying one 25 years, even though the shop manager told they were built by the Fender brothers George and Leo 🤣🤣🤣 Way I see things G&L struggled because A. they concentrated mostly on the US market. B. they traded on myths centred around an old guy who died in his 80's 30 odd years back. Sad though if they wind up down the tubes as they paid the best money. Their hourly rate was $19.50, pish when compared to the In 'n' Out burger chain's $21ph starting rate but better than the $16 Ernie Ball pays or the $18 you get at Fender Corona.

Got this in a trade on here recently but it’s just not got much use. Between the green Russian and the grey stache that I own I have my fuzz needs covered. This one is two big muffs running in parallel, one of them has a standard tone control, the other has a mid boost/cut. Certainly a lot to play with and a lot of sounds to be gotten out of it! No original box with this but will be packaged securely. Price will include postage in the UK

We had several rubber floor mats at church that we used to use over cable runs, before I rewired the stage with sockets on top and cables underneath. I'll see if I can find them. That's looks decent quality and good value. I might just order a length anyway
-
That was a huge factor in my getting a Fender Rumble 800 210 combo. At 13kg it’s the same weight as one of my Ashdown 210 cabs (of which I have two). So as well as reducing the weight (and number) of the large-ish items I need to carry I now don’t need to carry an amp head & speaker leads, plus the inevitable bending over plugging them all in, just combo & mains lead, much less stress on the back.

I've programmed some patches that sound great through headphones on my multi FX. I just hope they won't take too much tweaking at band practice tomorrow when going through an amp .

Aaargh, choices, choices!! The M5s and SE7s are both around the same price (£140) for a pair and I am struggling to choose between them - I suspect that this is one of those cases where there’s no wrong answer as both seem like they’ll do exactly what I need. SE7s have the low cut and pad switches but I have gain control and a low cut on my interface so I don’t need those features on the mics. But then again….

Sure do, identical to the OP one above. Absolutely adore it, sadly it doesn't get out as much as it used to! But an absolute weapon of a bass! Had a red one when they first came out and used it but never really liked the sound (I was too young to appreciate the active Ray sound in those days) and moved on for yet another Precision of some kind... SUB's are perfect in every way as workhorse instruments. Prices are definitely creeping up these days, but rightly so - they are EBMM USA instruments after all and are becoming quite collectable. Would love to have one of each colour; White, Black, Graphite, Teal, Red, Blue and apparently there was a Cinnamon too? Never seen one in the wild, I thought it was the Red but apparently not)
