  1. Past hour
  2. Dirty Boy - Cardiacs
  3. I had a custom Roscoe LG with a Pau Ferro board. I picked it over Rosewood as I thought the colour and subtle grain was gorgeous. Performance wise, I didn’t find much in it next to rosewood boards that I had on similar instruments, but personally, I found the colour of it more pleasing to look at.
  4. More pics and I wanted to show how easy it is to turn this bass in a reverse P. The routing is made for the two options.
  5. Bought a Hercules stand from John. Really well packed and arrived faster than a fast thing. Great communication, top BC chap. Many thanks.
  6. I hope I'm not speaking out of turn here, but if you're not a Peter Hook fan don't let that put you off. These are fantastic basses in every aspect. The build quality is phenomenal, sound is superb and they play like a dream. Plus, they look even better in the flesh, lovely deep trans red. I can't see mine leaving me any time soon. If you are a Hooky fan then that's just gravy.
  7. That’s what I’ve got on my Bravewood P - they are ok - the other one is a roundwound version of jazz flats apparently
  8. These are absolutely brilliant basses. VERY stable for gigging (more so than Fender Custom Shops in my experience) and also very bright. Mine is identical, but a bit later than yours (and its a Lefty!). GLWTS
  9. Oh mate - I’m still playing, I’m just choosing what to play. The band in question have responded that I’m not actually allowed to quit…🫣
  10. Ive had numerous tks cabs including a pair of 1216s. Im just looking at these for my studio.
  11. That's The Way I Like It - KC & The Sunshine Band
  12. There's always time for other bands later on mate, you're going through some far more important stuff at the moment and you need to give yourself the space and capacity to deal with that stuff from a full hand so to speak. Playing bass should always reduce stress, not add to it. Band or no band, you will of course need to ensure there's a bass within your reach at all times however. Good luck mate 👍
  13. Granted. I'm just saying it's not a major issue.
  14. TI infeld rounds jr344 43-89. Not sure what the other one is.
  15. Recently picked up the 12" version and adore it, special combos these!
  16. “Gotten through”, or memorised? Different fingerings? Remember, at this stage Danny is assuming we use them over static harmony. But I’ll admit I’ve tried to use them in a song context as well.
  17. Pink 🩷
  18. I’ve just finally gotten through patterns 1 and 2 in all keys, through to exercise 6. Now begins playing real changes with them.

  20. Today
  21. I've been playing and recording my double bass much more often lately, and would like a mic to accompany the Krivo magnetic pickup I have installed. There are two reasons for this really: 1. The Krivo works well, but doesn't sound particularly like a double bass. It would be nice to have a mic for the quieter gigs. I don't use an amp, and I'm usually always on IEMs when I play. Resistance to feedback isn't paramount, but it would be nice to have something that could be used alongside a quiet drum kit. 2. I work at a studio with a well-stocked microphone cupboard so the recording options are well covered, but sometimes it's useful to do a quick take on the DB in the control room when the band are in the live room. I'd like something quick and easy that sounds good enough to be a 'keeper' under the right circumstances. From what I can see, the main options are: *DPA 4099 - We have a couple of these at the studio and they're very useful. I've used it a few times on the DB and it pretty much does what I need. I don't want to constantly borrow the studio mics though so I'm looking to purchase something myself. It's also useful for other instruments which would give added value to me. *Neumann MCM 114 - Interesting and fairly recent addition to the Neumann line-up. Seems to be competing head-to-head with the DPA. *Remic D5400/D5400LB/D540 - I've heard a lot of good reports about these, but they seem quite hard to find in the UK right now. My plan is to hire the Neumann and a Remic and test them alongside the DPA we have, but would like to hear opinions/other options. Thanks Aled
  22. Very John Taylor
  23. I have a Pau Ferro fretless but it's never had rounds on it , so I'm not much use there
  24. I think I could fix one if I got the chance, I do have a background in electronics and I’d love to have a go and bringing one back from the dead so let me know if you ever find one.
  25. I've been going through all same concerns, but I want to fly with a keyb0&rd. I've spoken to Ryan Air customer service ( yes, there are people who have that as a job title 😆), and they recommended buying a seat which is probably what I'll do when I travel next year. Don't forget you'll need to pay for assigned seating for both of you, and you'll need to carry it through the airport. Not such a big deal for a bass, but it is for a 15kg keyboard.
