    It’s not obviously a fake, the headstock and logo are the usual giveaways. The case is era correct, the candy is right, the body looks correct with the truss rod being at the heel (exception of non-original scratchplate), but the quality of the pics and the weird inlays are making me suspicious. £700 is a good price though as it looks in good condition. I’d insist on better pics or a video call with the seller to hear the history before exchanging any money.

    Lots of big guitar companies use Shopify, including Fender. Gibson also just moved their entire online store to it. This is probably meaningless to anyone not involved in webdev, but you can see the Shopify config code right there in the Fender site's pages.

    Threads going off-topic is a way of life on Basschat. When it gets too much for me personally I unfollow the thread. I'm not suggesting you do this but in the grand scheme of things we're not on here discussing anything that deep so it doesn't really matter. I didn't appreciate the call-out is what I'm saying I guess.

    Which is fine for me. I work from home and therefore I'm in all day, and having my item collected from home means I don't have to lug it to the "nearest" drop-off point.

    I'll start by saying that this is the best Stingray I've ever played or heard. Beautifully slim neck, and the punch/tone from the Aguilar OBP-2 Preamp & Aguilar AG4M pickup are second to none. I had the Aguilar pickup reinstalled earlier this year. (There is a routing for a single coil under the scratch plate as well, as this bass was previously a HS - this means it has four controls, but the second knob only blends to a single coil on the Humbucker.). This Ash bodied Stingray is also very light, at around 8.8lbs. The bass comes complete with a 2005 MM Anniversary brown Hard Shell Case with gold interior. Price is £1550, interesting trades considered. Buyer to collect from Derbyshire DE7, or will meet half way up to 100 miles. (Up to 200 miles total distance.)

    With their 'simple delivery' it means when sending something over a certain size you HAVE to use DHL which only allows for collection from your home and only gives you a collection times of between 0700 and 1800 which means taking a day off which is not practical.

    Many thanks @Phil Starr. That sounds good. Would the dimensions of that quite big port be given at the start of the thread? If not, how would I work out what they need to be and if one big port could be problematic, could two smaller ones do the same job? Apologies again for the idiot boy questions.

    First time for me to try out a set of tape wounds. I ordered a set of La Bella Black nylons for my acoustic short scale Guild bass. Little did I know about these strings, especially how NOT to cut them shorter on the black nylon coating, so slowly the nylon drifted apart as a pair of very old socks on my skinny legs. Thats old bunch of money out of the window - someone show post a “how to put tape wound strings for dummies” on YouTube. Not I just feel stupid
