That ‘wobbly comedian’ says, and I agree, that “normal is the cycle on a washing machine”!
 -
No idea if this should be here, or the Singing and Playing thread as an example of how not to do it.

2025 SE Bass Basheroonie! Sunday 9/11/25 *CONFIRMED*
Wombat replied to NancyJohnson's topic in Events
I’m also going to bring my desk (so people can see how good a Zoom L is for small gigs) and that has 5 Auxes so bring IEMs if you like and you can try basses without adding to the sound level. I’ll also have some IEMs people can try (together with quite a few tips and a LOT of wet wipes!). -

And really think about portability. Castors don't lift 100lb combos into the back of cars or up steps. -

I thought the same. Elf through 2x8 was limp, I asked if I could try it through a decent cab. I swapped to a Ampeg portaflex 15 and it was night and day. -
It was not the original Fender factory. That has long been torn down, there's a parking garage there now. It's the old CLF Design facility, where Leo built the original Music Man guitars and basses for Music Man after he sold Fender to CBS. So FMIC has zero history in that building, other than all the cool prototypes Leo took with him. I wrongfully thought this too, but was corrected when I posted it on Reddit.

I took too much gear to the SW Bash. I agree with the keep it concise advice. If @neepheid is taking just 6, that's 3 for me. I won't be taking any amps or cabs either. The big valve heads are way too loud when they sound good through the cabs and stop any conversation dead. @stevie will be taking the cabs I use anyway.

Just because lots of people do it doesn't mean that it is a desirable or healthy (both physically and mentally) lifestyle. And we should be progressing, not trying to get back to the bad old days.
 -
Cheers, all good points. I just looked at it in daylight, and it’s not good. I’m going to have to talk to a roofing specialist. Thanks, I will do, but it’s not looking good. 🙈

Should you have 24000 € burning your pocket, it's not a delirious price for an original 1955 Fender Precision Bass in excellent condition and owned by Jean-Marc Haroutiounian (born in 1964, so he can't be the furst owner), a French professional bass player known for his work with Michel Sardou. That said, it's at 22000 € on Reverb, meaning he certainly will accept the price they retail for, which is around between 15~18000 € depending on its condition. "Normal" is a meaningless word to apply to use as a generalisation, because each person's "normal" is based on their perception of what's around them, what they do, and how they think things should be. It minds me of something Dave Allen used to say: "May your god go with you.".

My 6 are all PJ + HAZ. The other 5 I've had were all PJ too. I'm thinking to change it up for the next one.
 -
Sounds interesting. Can we have some photos when it’s complete?

	Cheap Sunglasses - ZZ Top

The Future's So Bright (I Gotta Wear Shades) - Timbuk 3

LFYS Monaco 1 x12 will do it easily
 -
Blinded By The Light - Manfred Mann / Bruce Springsteen

Thanks! I bought it a few years ago from Andy Baxter's, just after Scott Devine was there and was very impressed with it. I didn't know that when I bought it, though, but he was right. It's possibly the best Jazz I've ever owned (or even played?). Better than the Celinder Skarbee bass I had.

Doctor My Eyes - Jackson Browne

Apparently the OLP Tony Levin will take one of our necks according to @thevintagebassist -
Cornwall Steve started following Ibanez BTB uncomfortable to play?
 -
I've had my eyes on getting myself a 5 string BTB (but not one of the older, standard models) however I've seen and heard several comments from various reviews (notably Low End Lobster) about the edge of the body 'digging in' to the forearm rendering the bass uncomfortable to play. Does anyone who plays/has played one of these suffered this experience ? I'd appreciate your thoughts please Thanks

Saturday night. Our small 300 seat historic theatre, The Bend. A 5 minute drive for me. British recording artist Joanne Shaw Taylor. Front row seat. Daryl
 -
If you've got an airing cupboard, put the heads in there to help them dry out. Might be worth doing a bit of a strip down to the soldering station to see what's happened in there.
 -
Dave, I probably should have said bad performances. We're very selective about what gigs we take and have no problem saying " no ". Daryl
