Anyone have the Supergrass article from Bass Player?
MacDaddy replied to umcoo's topic in General Discussion
Just saw them tonight and can confirm 😆 -
I've heard Turbosound speakers and the band sounded great, the EV looks to be a bit more expensive than the others possibly justified by a 'proper' plywood cab but also down to the higher price of US products over here. EV speakers in the past have tended to have a slight bass and top end boost or midrange suckout giving them a larger than life sound but I haven't listened to this latest model. My personal preference would still be the RCF or the FBT but all of these are fine speakers and good value. A word of warning here, you can't trust the numbers in the advertising. As Stevie has pointed out most of these 12" drivers can only handle 300W and the 1.75" horn drivers 50W at most. Claims of 2000 or 1500W amplifiers are nonsense as are claims of 132db sound levels. The reality is that they all proiduce similar sound levels and even if the amplifiers inside them could produce 2000W (they cant) the protection circuits would limit them to no more than the speaker can safely use. Since the manufacturers or their sales team exaggerate by different amounts you can't use their numbers to compare them unfortunately

Bought some bridge/pickup covers from Pete. Well packaged and tracking info provided. Items just as described. Thanks Pete!

This was my thought. Rare, expensive and unique to the point of being irreplaceable. If you want a bass that feels, plays and sounds like a Basslab then it has to be a Basslab.

Wow, id love to try an Alma, ive an original Diamond Jnr (not the solid gold version) but the clean blend and attack switch are great additions. How many comps do you have Jim? 🤣

Rickenbacker 4004L Truss Rods. Really?
Woodinblack replied to Woodinblack's topic in Repairs and Technical
I put the super light 40-125s on it, and combined with the trimmed down nut, it is pretty well spot on now, took it to a practice tonight and it works very well. I think I can not worry about the truss rod after all. -

What was the thread title previously then, saying as it has caused such commotion?
-
As a die-hard 5 string player I admit to enjoying seeing 5ers in classified ads that 4 stringers failed to get the hang of only because they sometimes can't get rid of fast enough and will sell below market value. I've nabbed a few along the way like that. One man's poison...

Trickfish Trilobite Preamp - PRICE DROP: £450!

I don’t know really - haven’t had a chance to try one as yet. I’ve listened to some YT demos and they certainly sound nice enough. Some very interesting innovation too. There’s a new headstock shape (better than the old little square one), and a new “headless” design, which has a headstock, but no tuning keys. Prices don’t seem too bad, but I guess you have to add the import duty on as well.

Rickenbacker 4004L Truss Rods. Really?
Jean-Luc Pickguard replied to Woodinblack's topic in Repairs and Technical
The twin truss rods were one of the two reasons that put me off rics for years — the other being the bridge. Now that there's an easily adjustable bridge and a two way single truss rod I had no reason not to buy a 2024 4003. -

5 String with the most Sizzle on the top end
HeadlessBassist replied to AJC08's topic in Bass Guitars
Any Status with clean strings. The 30X preamps were set up with very carefully chosen frequencies so you can play them with full treble and bass without any of the usual hiss or harshness. A Spector with tone pump and EMGs. A Warwick ’Double Buck’ bass. Another astonishingly sizzly bass. A slightly more budget friendly choice: The Cort Artisan Space Bass 4/5. Very clean sound, again with very friendly and clear top end. Also, if you can find one, a HH Fender Dimension Deluxe/Elite. I still miss mine. -
Yeah it’s a fair old time, just got to be patient - which is something I’m really not very good at.

TWO. YEARS. When I ordered my last Sandberg like 12 years ago, the wait time was 6 months. Even back then, I thought it was ridiculous, I get they're popular, but I don't know, hire more people? Expand? But it is now TWO YEARS? Who in their right mind has the patience to wait that long? My interest for it would fizzle out after 6 months of waiting... Like, I've got a Warmoth body on order that should be here in 3 months and I've already lost patience haha...
