Ander87 started following Ashdown RM 500 EVO III - as new & serviced
-
Hi Gang! Hope everyones good. Putting my Ashdown head for sale- this is from December 2024 and used half a dozen times basically and can prove it. Working perfectly and with a fresh bill of service/review by Dave at Ashdown from September 2025 (faulty input jack) so fresh and ongoing warranty. Going digital with the band (Anagram + IEMs) so no use for this sadly. The head comes with cover, mint, plus footswitch (4x button). Happy to post, or short drive.

Headless/ fretless bass for less than £1k
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's topic in Bass Guitars
I have a couple of things to add .. Imho the status look way better than the Ibanez . That blue just looks uninviting. Looking at the necks of those and the cort space basses, it looks to me that the neck on my Washburn status is better quality 🤔. Are the necks of the Ibanez really that different ?? I have seen people having issues with the Ibanez basses with marks on the neck - plus having issues changing strings causing scratch marks on the neck .Quality control has been mentioned about them . just looking at that last pic of the Ibanez fretless . The tuning knobs look much better placed than the cort space basses ,and Hillman which look awful imho . -

Your best (and worst!) bass gear purchases of 2025?

I have a handful of kids in my class with different forms of autism, suspected NPD and ADHD. ADHD is relatively straight forward so long as you can draw on large reserves of patience. The most autistic kid out of the two is an absolute sweetheart and by far the most interesting student in the class. She's always full of surprises and it's absolutely impossible to generalise or normalise her. She's doing her own thing and doing it quite well but I do worry a little about her hyperfocus and staying safe. -
Lovely bow, made in Germany. French pattern, nickel mounted with ebony frog & in great condition. New hair. Nicely balanced & pulls a good sound. Ideal as a good first proper wooden bow for students or as a professional spare/pit bow. Johannes Schneider - Bubenreuth, 692mm octagonal ipe stick, 135g It's the bottom bow in the pics, the top 2 have sold already. Based in Catford SE London to try out or can post. £400 ono

I might have a situation where I have to use a traditional backline for a bit. Can the QC run enough output to properly drive a PA power amp? 1.4V?

Believe it or not, a lot of thought went into the design of the UK plugs and sockets... -

There's a place we play I call The Weasel Dust Palace, which turns into a club (we basically play on the dance floor, it's a nightmare packing down around people who immediately invade the band space once the DJ starts) as soon as we finish, and recently they rebuilt the sound system with 18" subs in the walls and a generally bigger system. The DJ is the owner's teenage son, and the sound level as we were packing down last time was unbelievable - you could feel the air moving the hairs on your arms - I had to put my inears back in (unplugged) it was so loud...

I think a nano-sized one will be announced today, based on the hype... The big box ones seem to be aimed at connoisseurs or collectors. Looks like ~6000 were made, with 300 of those in yellow for whatever 'Third Man Hardware' is.

Nord Electro 4D 61 Keyboard Weighted Waterfall SW61 Superb Nord Electro keyboard - this has all the classic acoustic and electro mechanical keyboards you could wish for for live and studio performances. Rhodes and Wurlitzer electric pianos, acoustic grands and uprights Hammond, Farfisa and Vox organs. It even has Mellotron and Chamberlain samples, plus strings, harps and guitars. This version also has drawbar control. It’s a classic in its own right but still updateable using the Nord site and sample library. Included is the keyboard, user manual, mains lead, damper pedal, sample library on CD plus a nice heavily padded gig-bag. I have added a custom ‘half moon’ switch to control the rotary speaker simulation from the keyboard rather than using a foot switch like an old Hammond. If you collect in person I’ll also include a stand. The price is non-negotiable and sorry no trades. It is feasible to post but only in the UK and at your cost and risk. See pics - I’ve not gigged it but have used it in rehearsals occasionally. To be honest it’s been used at home as a piano and the other wonderful sounds have been wasted! Selling as I use my old Korg live as I’m not worried about it being knocked about and I’m going to buy a simple piano for home use.
