  2. I found this in reference to Autumnglo from a John Hall Q&A. Not sure if it helps or hinders: Unfortunately, there were about three different shades of Autumnglo produced over the years. The first one, circa '57, was like a Fireglo surrounded by a brown edge. The second, during the late 50's and through into the 60's was more like a very dark Fireglo. The last one, in the 70's, was kind of, for lack of a better description, a baby poop brown with a matte surface. So, while dreaming, take your pick! (My personal preference is the first type.)
  3. It’s smaller than the small one, the small one has soft touch switching and assorted circuitry
  4. Pretty sure mine did that; are you plugging in the foot switch before or after powering on the amp?
  5. The Strat is a lovely guitar, it's a MIJ 87 which appears to be a 62 reissue, thee bolt head etc. I'm not that up on these things TBH but it's lovely to play, has EMG active pickups, the vibrato is locked with a block of wood and at one time in its life was routed for a humbucker at the bridge. Im trying to write songs, so I use the Strat, my 3d printed headless bass and a macbook. It's hard work but it's very different to my day job so it's a good way to unwind.
  6. Price drop to £100! High quality fuzz with some great sounds including Velcro tearing gated fuzz for some synthy action plus more traditional fuzz noises. In the original box with some feet and a sticker. Velcro’d on the bottom plus free of charge carpet fluff. I’m trying to free up cash for a BassRig 15 so not a massive interest in trades / part-ex unless there’s a GigRig QMX4 or QMX6 involved.
  7. Compliments, I have this bass also and like it a lot, you could mention that it is a hollow body and therefor very light, it has a Delano pickup and preamp with mid-sweep.
  8. on the 5 string HB ,,it looks like he only used the bottom string for a thumb rest ,,,,,,or did i miss it ?
  9. I don't need another 4-string Yamaha. But I'm tempted. Good luck with the sale!
  10. Mug Push - Bootsy's Rubber Band
  11. Today
  12. I bought my first Fender this year, a MIJ Raw Ash Jazz. If you're anywhere near Worcestershire, you are welcome to give it a whirl.
  13. I’ve used many US, Mexican and Japanese Ps, Js and Stingrays over the years for gigging. I’ve found that if they sound good at home they don’t always work well in the band. I’ve struggled with Js in bands as the scooped sound with both pickups full, which is my favourite setting, often gets a bit lost. I end up going with more neck pickup which is more of a P bass sound but not quite as the pickup position is nearer the neck than on a P. I’m never fully happy with Stingrays. The three bands can sound a bit honky with too much mid. Two bands are better IMHO as long as bass and treble are only slightly boosted. I have one with a J pickup in the P position as well as the humbucker and I often prefer that. All the Ps I’ve had sound pretty similar. I’ve swapped pickups a couple of times but the difference is subtle. Strings make a bigger difference. I now prefer flats. I like the modern 1.65in wide 9.5in radius necks. Wider necks are ok but I find them less comfortable. I recently rediscovered my Mexican Player P which has flats and a Lindy Fralin pickup. After many rehearsals with a Stingray the guitarist said “now that sounds like a bass” when I played the P. I was a bit taken aback because I love the Stingrsy but he was right. It filled out the sound in all the right places. The secret is using the tone knob to focus the sound or make it fuller and warmer. I even found it sounded great for slap. With flats! Usually I use a J with steel roundwounds for slap. I love only having two dials to fiddle with. Volume is always on full. Tone ether full, 90% or 50%. Simples! And it just sits well in the band mix effortlessly. I guess this is why so many bassists use a P.
  14. That reminds me, I bought a TE Elf head a while ago to take to gigs as a backup to my Ashdown ABM, but I haven’t seen it for some time. I must try to remember where I put it. Younger me would never have believed that it would be possible to lose a gigable bass head.
  15. Coffee Mug - Descendents
  16. We watch it every year and absolutely love it. Just people in a studio drinking beer from mugs and having a great time whilst listening to top tunes. The funniest bit is when that couple fall over while dancing!
  17. Reluctantly putting this out there again! Didn't sell earlier in the year but still not playing it so would be nice to find it a new home, and I could use the funds for a new mixing desk!
  18. Please add a ‘w’ to Newtownards - I’m from Northern Ireland, not Scotland…;-)
  19. Here we have my DBX DriveRack PX professional loudspeaker management processor with matching DBX reference microphone for sale. I am the second owner, and this has lived in a flightcase all its life alongside my mixing console. Condition is used, although the reference mic was new this year (2025) has never been used in anger. A great tool for those of us who mix live sound from stage side whilst playing. I’m only selling as I have now upgraded my bass bins to a matching pair to my tops so will be using the internal crossovers to cut down on the weight of gear I shlep to gigs. Because I am inherently lazy, I asked ChatGPT to describe the functionality and this is what it came up with, which sounds accurate to me based on my experience. “The DBX DriveRack PX is a professional loudspeaker management system that optimises live sound systems. It combines automatic room tuning, crossover control, EQ, dynamics, and feedback suppression in one rack-mount unit. Using the included DBXRTA-M measurement microphone, you can run auto-EQ and real-time analysis to tailor your speakers and subs for smooth, balanced frequency response in any venue. Other key features include configurable crossovers, delay alignment, compression/limiting, and feedback elimination, making it ideal for PA systems, bands, DJs, and event sound setups.” I’m looking for £300 for the DriveRack and reference mic, or £250 for the DriveRack and £50 for the microphone. Collection from Killingworth Newcastle upon Tyne, or delivery at the buyers cost and risk. Any questions, please ask!
  20. Sorry to hear of peoples issues and hope for everyone that next year brings some light. I’ve been a harbinger of doom today. Messaged a mate because tomorrow will be a year since his heart attack. Told him I didn’t want any more dramas this year only to hear his Mrs was rushed to hospital yesterday. Thankfully she’s back home. Sent another friend a happy Xmas message only to hear she’d had to drive 200 miles to Glasgow as her dad had taken ill into hospital More worryingly I haven’t heard back from the daughter of an old friend who is in the late stages of a brain tumour. Can only think matters have taken a turn for the worse. Poor girl lost her mum only a year ago. I’d best not message anyone else. Stay strong if you can. Get help if you can’t. And enjoy doing the things you enjoy with the people you enjoy doing them with.

  22. I've finally got to play with my AH300 today. It's awesome, but there's some strange behaviour. The front panel has lamps for pre-shape, valve, compressor, effects loop, etc. and the pedal board has the same set of lamps. I'm assuming the same lights should be lit on both panel and pedal board. But when pressing various panel switches or foot switches it's easy to get them out of step - e.g. valve lamp is lit on the panel, but out on pedal board. I press either switch and it swaps over. Is this anyone has experienced before? Google AI seems to think it's a common problem, but I can't find any real website with information.
  23. oops, sorry. I’ve already started on it, obviously…..
  24. Excellent Len, but please take that 'e' out of 'whisky' - it's from Skye, not Newtonards.
  25. When the Cort Space 5 came out, they were £50 cheaper than anywhere else.
