I would also suggest doing exercises to improve core strength, especially to build up the muscles supporting the spine. The best way of doing this is to go to a gym and start doing weights (get advice on what exercises to do). I used to have back problems (displaced disk), but have had no issues for many years, not since I started going to the gym!

Huge Hands started following Stuart Zender

That 1993 video is the ultimate lineup for me. I got to see them live twice after the 2nd and 3rd albums with Derrick on drums. Although I thought Derrick was really good, I always wished I had seen them with Nick Van Gelder on drums - I wonder why he left so early on - he seems really spot on in this gig. I always thought JK was a bit of a pillock, but absolutely loved the Zender era music they produced. They definitely lost something when he left IMHO.

£22 for two sets of D'Addario Nickel on Amazon

This thread's about D'addario strings... Update, my ETA has been pulled forward to next Tuesday. It was July/August initially, lol. -
I use this technique to brighten dead strings. It really does work and saves £££.

Jamiroquai had a magical swagger about them at that time, both musically and visually. Zender was a massive part of it 👍

Price includes UK shipping. Selling this barely used preamp removed from an Anaconda Jamal Nichols Signature bass. These preamps seem to be about £240 so selling for half price. its the 4 knob one with a 3 way mini toggle (gold) for mid frequency. I think it can be used without the toggle if you prefer. edit: it also has active passive push/pull! Great preamp, ready to go. Battery leads are set up for a separate compartment but can easily be splices together if you want the battery in the cavity. Any questions, give me a shout. u

There's nothing like them. I have two 'just in case' lol I expect that was a monstrous tone with a cab like that! I owned a 7415 for a while. A proper Wembley stadium cab - you couldn't hear it on stage, but the people at the back of the venue were pressed against the wall with bass pmsl -
How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
JapanAxe replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
Auditioned a singer yesterday. He arrived over an hour late, which wasn’t too much of a problem as it allowed us to set up and run some songs ourselves. He didn’t bring so much as a microphone but I had a spare mic and lead and there was a stand in the rehearsal room. He was ok on some stuff. Other material was clearly out of his range (ever tried singing anything by the Sweet?) but on some other songs his response to running out of range was just to sing any note he fancied. Yours truly was attempting to sing harmony so that was interesting! Unsurprisingly, a unanimous NO from the rest of us. -
Anyway, Stuart Zender... coolest of cats, supernatural talent so young.

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
Obrienp replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
Reviews are encouraging then. If it is a genuine 51 P copy, it would have pole spacing to cope with the 20mm string spacing at the bridge. That might be a smidge wide for a Bronco but it shouldn’t be too much of a problem given the size of the slugs. The previous model Bronco was about 16mm at the bridge, if I remember correctly but as the new one seems to have a standard BBOT, perhaps it’s gone up to 19mm. Good luck anyway. -

@Burns-bass was probably in part responding to my "I have no words", as all of the nine comments-before-mine on the thread title were milder. It's what I decided on after noticing the OP had been online just before my comment, but had not responded in the slightest to the earlier comments on a thread title that effectively said: "Guys! Stuart Zender is dead!" It's quite possible I should've been able to find better words, but I didn't at the time. As to the PM idea: not everyone is prone to writing PMs on an online forum, and not everyone even looks at PMs. There's also the aspect of a whisper-in-yer-ear PM possibly making a too huge point of it all. When we're sitting around a pub table in a cold winter, and someone comes in and leaves the door open, someone else will shout "Close that door!" and two minutes later it's all forgotten. Whispering in his ear instead (whilst the door is still open) might well have unsoughtafter effects. I also notice with interest that Burns-bass opted to not write a nice PM to me before his "world gone mad". Dunno whether that tells bad things about me or good things about him.

Old furniture thrifted cheap can be a game changer; snagged a vintage cabinet that became a perfect instrument stand and hid cables too. It instantly made the space feel less cluttered and more intentional.

Lozz196 replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
Some people need to be playing regularly to get the best out of them, trying the same person on the same songs 3 rehearsals in a row should show no 934 to be either like this or a stay static. -

I guess you can look at this in different ways. 1. Accept he's not up to your standards but he might be forced to improve himself over time if he's playing with better musicians. 2. You take the lead on the rhythm section and you drive the low end. Sometimes that can work. 3. Keep this drummer until a better one comes along. 4. Just tell him he's not suitable. Its definitely a lot easier if everyone is at a similar level and have a similar outlook with regards the band. My big concern with a drummer that is a bit loose is "will he put in the work to learn the songs." ? Maybe he's not been playing in a band for a while ? No matter what i wish you all the best and hope it works out for you. Dave -
