  2. I did wonder about the tuning. IIRC one of the competing electro-mechanical pianos from that era was tuned by adding or removing solder from the tines. I also wonder if they added some internal bracing at the corners to hold the case together without changing the external appearance. It certainly looked as though it could do with some. And agreed with the varnish. That glossy finish was nasty. Isn't there something less intrusive available? Even a matt varnish would have been better than shellac.
  3. These were a big deal in the unplugged era of the ‘90s . Bargain ! Glwts
  4. I've never had much luck with Ashdown. An ABM 500 chrome face. Sounded great, until the note decayed and it would hiss. No one could find the fault. I contacted Ashdown, they said take it to a tech. Which wasn't that helpful. And then, an Ashdown RM from a major music retailer was faulty. I sent that back immediately. I think I should stay away from Ashdown tbh.
  5. 2 superb bass cabs In great condition, that have served me well but dont get used anymore and need a new home. Everything works without any issues. 6. My only real gripe with the repair of Dave Greenfield's old keyboard was that coat of varnish. They've done this before with old furniture when the owner wants to keep the scrapes and knocks, the character - but out comes the varnish! As soon as I see a brush and pot of varnish, I'm internally shouting, "NOOOOOOOO!"
  7. Bit disappointed - after nearly a 4 month wait Anderton's charged me £3.80 extra for the refurbed pickguard. It arrived and was fine and looks better on the bass but I thought the charge was petty after the £1000's I've spent with them over the years.I guess times are hard and margins slim.
  8. Hmm, No easy solutions then. I will first try to make a brass bush from stock pipe and scrape away to flatten the back face of the cutout with a chisel. If that fails I will saw out the cutout all the way through and have my local engravers make me a Trafflyte fascia with holes for flush mount pots to cover the hole.

  10. Resale on them is alarming if selling one bought from new. If you're buying used they're one of the best bargains out there especially the neck through Korean ones. The quality of them is as a good as anything but the only way I'd be playing a new one is if I was on the artist roster, and I don't think that's going to happen any time soon.
  11. Don’t forget this one…..
  12. Even tuning up is going to sound sweet with that combination. Great to know you're back on the horse. Have fun.
  13. Exactly what I found with the Mesa D800 Voicing control, at home, wonderful. In the mix, I had to turn it off.
  14. Great to hear this news, Paul! 🙏 You're such a creative person, it must have been torturous not being able to play and make music for so long. Look forward to hearing what happens next.. 😊👍 All the best, Nik
  15. Don't forget the old smoothie ... Arguably the best of the bunch , 😛 im not Bias at all gov This is the 40th Anniversary "Old Smoothie" StingRay, A reproduction of StingRay prototype #26, with a custom 2 band , wider custom humbucker , where the pole pieces are adjacent to Strings rather than directly under them , but uses the modern profile 42.5mm neck rather than the vintage slightly more narrow one from the "classic's" Basically a less barky stingray that can get pretty close to a P bass thump when you need it to
  16. Still usung my B3 regularly... Apart from the fact that it's so versatile (tuner/fx unit/drum machine for home practice/digital interface etc), it has some great sounding patches including some very good amp models. The patches I use most on it though are the compressors, in particular the DBX compressor which, in a gigging situation, is so, so useful! I bought another one on here last year so I have 2 now; one for rehearsals and gigs that's permanently packed in my accessories case, and the other just sits at home on my practice amp. For this price, this is an absolute bargain! Best of luck with the sale. 👍😊 Nik
  17. It reminds me of when I had been a Hartke artist for about 15 odd years and all of a sudden Sheehan, Wootton, Bello and a whole host of other top players joined the roster too. 😁 I liked to think I have inspired someone, somewhere on the planet.. Your bass looks absolutely fantastic! I too have a MIJ precision that will get the treatment and, although I adore candy apple red, even the candy cola red, I have a slight obsession with chameleon flip paint and have a very special red in mind! Thank you for posting, definitely solidified my plan!
  18. Sadly and with apologies to the BCer concerned I wasn't able to go ahead with the trade deal on this so it remains available. I think I might pop it up to one of the midlands shops on consignment sale soon as it's the location/collection/delivery thing that seems to make this a bit of a challenge to sell, certainly from the wilds of East Kent 👍
  19. Nice example of a 2022 Made in Mexico Player Precision, and light too at 8.3lbs. Can do with either black tort or white plates as per pics. Holes in the headstock where I added the Hipshot triple retainer. No case or gigbag so collection/meet only. No trades thanks.

  20. Ashdown...best customer service in the industry... I really must send mine down to be serviced...
  21. It’s a bit of a strange one, the tuner and the lever are chrome but the shaft where the string goes round and the nut attachment that fixes it to the headstock are both nickel.
  22. Beautiful
  23. Stunning bass! Shame you're not in the UK.
  24. Sometimes we look through the lyrics, if there's a phrase in there that sounds appropriate, sometimes it might not be for the song title but works well for an EP
