  2. Personally I found that to get the best out of the vibrato mechanism you need to stick with the lighter gauge strings that the bass comes with. Unfortunately I didn't like the feel or sound of the light gauge E or A strings for playing "conventional" bass parts and fitting Newtone Axion strings which sorted out the E and A rendered the vibrato mechanism almost inoperable. I eventually gave up on the Squier Bass VI as there were too many design problems that got in the way for my playing, most notably the very narrow neck. I upgraded firstly to a Burns Barracuda which suffered from the same string gauge/vibrato mechanism compromise but had a wider neck, and finally to an Eastwood Hooky which has the best neck width for me and no vibrato mechanism for me to be disappointed about. As someone who also plays guitar and owns two with very usable vibrato systems, I found the various mechanisms fitted to the commercially available Bass VIs far too subtle even with the original light gauge strings fitted. Others seem to get on fine with it, even with heavier strings. The only way to be sure is to try it for yourself.
  3. Yep I ordered 9 set of the Warwick strings and I don't even have a long scale bass. 😂😂😂
  4. Beautiful hands!
  5. I'm so amazed by your build! That ebony facing is absolutely insane and beautiful. I have two replica myself (made by a luthier) and I started making instruments a year ago. A wal replica will happen at some point. I'll be glad if it turns out 1/10 as good as yours 😁 Congrats again
  6. This is indeed absolutely not a MIDI pedal at all as the typical MIDI connector is a 5 pins DIN type (there are a few others too like XLR, TRS, USB, 13 pins DIN, mini MIDI, ethernet MIDI, ... but no 6 pins type). It's the pedalboard designed for the GEM WS2 with a 6 pins connector sending serial data to the main keyboard. Here is the female connector on the GEM WS2: That said, those pedalboards are quite rare and putting it back for sale with the right description will certainly put over £21 in your pocket, so you eventually made a good deal. Here's the service manual for the GEM WS2: https://www.deepsonic.ch/deep/docs_manuals/gem_ws2_keyboard_workstation_service_manual.pdf And here all you need to know about this MIDI protocol: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIDI
  7. Turners in beeston is ok. But tend to high end and wood rather than carbon. Bass bags in Ripley is still going ( after a major financial wobble) but have little in stock...tend towards lower end stuff. I got my carbon Arcos S3 from them but they had to order it in for me to try it. Better bet is to call Creswell Strings, who will send you 6 bows in a box that you can try at home; call or mail them with a quick description of what you want and your budget. I did that for a new cello bow a few years ago. I think it's important to try the bows with your own bass as the interaction counts for a lot. Bows sound different on different basses and spending more doesn't always result in the difference you expect. So ifbyou do make a trip to Nottinghamshire you'll need to bring your bass!
  8. In To The Valet - The Skids
  9. Arrived today. 😀 Even at it's lowest settings I'm getting pure square wave fuzz. Mix it with a chorus pedal for early 1980s synth sound. Perfect for early Gary Numan / Tube way army.
  10. Batman - Voivod
  11. I have been described by friends as a bad man in this respect too. Living vicariously through other folks’ purchases is a legitimate way to avoid personally acting on GAS I find.
  12. Interesting , i wonder if the heat issue is why they went " G2" .. on the EV's ... i've not noticed any heat issues whatsoever ... usually feel stone cold at teardown after a 3 hour gig , but it is winter and while the stages are warm im a sweaty bugger while performing combo of nerves and frantic dancing around, the venue's usually aren't .. I'm not sure we need anymore bass out of ours if i'm honest ... 😮 ... We used a set of the equivalent ( identical looking) Mackie thumps this NYE as we rocked up the venue and they were already mounted up on the stage in the only suitable place to run them .... soundchecking them our guitarists were complaining that they were having to adjust all their EQ's it was " TOO bassy " ( the mackies were set to live ) which looked to be the most Flat response from their 4 EQ presets. I was told we sounded great and it felt good on stage but even i decided to turn my cab sim off as the bass with it on was quite thunderous in the smallish venue in uxbridge.
  13. That's quite the endorsement. Do you use the floating trem? From what I've seen/heard this is one of the features of the instrument that makes it what it is and something that's completely lacking in some of the quality competitors' instruments like the Schecter Hellcat VI.
  14. What kind of music are you playing and what sound do you want? For a deep, rich sound with a pliable string I found Spiro Solos de-tuned to Orchestral pitch are a great choice. I’ve used mine for over 100 gigs so far and they’ve been faultless.
  15. Post extravagant Christmas, I can't afford this, but I would have thought the extras alone are nearly worth the total you're asking, let alone the instrument! GLWTS.
  16. Very cool ..
  17. Batman Theme — The Marketts
  18. Holding Out For A Hero - Bonnie Tyler
  19. Dunlop Cry Baby 105Q Bass Wah Bought a few months ago (on ebay for £105) for a band that didn't happen and it's just sitting here and I need the money.
  20. Only 6 years behind you on this, haha! But, as I've just started discovering from a very basic slicing patch on my GX10, it's a very cool fx!
  21. Love the fact that you've finally found what you're looking for after a 16 year search!! Guess when that happens you set aside any concerns about the chunky price of this unit and dive in! Looking forward to hearing more about how you get on with this and how you're managing to use it live / in the studio.
  22. Happy new year everyone!
  23. Hi Gang! Hope everyones good. Putting my Ashdown head for sale- this is from December 2024 and used half a dozen times basically and can prove it. Working perfectly and with a fresh bill of service/review by Dave at Ashdown from September 2025 (faulty input jack) so fresh and ongoing warranty. Going digital with the band (Anagram + IEMs) so no use for this sadly. The head comes with cover, mint, plus footswitch (4x button). Happy to post, or short drive.
