  2. I mentioned earlier today I had 'another idea' - I've implemented it, and it works! When thinking about what didn't work for me about the stacked-knob setup, the main issue was the tone pot taper, where there was little effect until the bottom quarter turn of the pot. I removed the extra 56nF caps and added a 510k resistor between the wiper and the 'hot' lug of each tone pot, thereby converting the existing 500k tone pots to 250k with a somewhat different taper. The tone pots behave much better! Curent plan is to to stick with this, but also acquire a 3-control plate and build it as Vol/Switch/Tone or Vol/Blend/Tone. Watch this space...
  3. Hi fella ill take the EMGs,I’m in Manchester, are you okay posting them cheers
  4. Fixed.
  5. Henceforth known as the Pyjama bass
  6. The good thing about buying a Fender Jazz is that even mediocre shops stock multiple options. Just go and play as many as you can, one will speak to you. If you must buy sight unseen, then out of your choices I'd go Am Pro II.
  7. That’s a beauty snorkie, congrats
  8. Sale only at the minute ideally but could pontentially consider trades ideally with cash my way (via pm obviously)
  9. Susie Dent was on Russell Howard podcast earlier this year. She was Suzie Dent and didn't come across as particularly engaging. But I enjoyed it, it was calm.
  10. I don't have a digital caliper to measure it with such exact precision. But I imagine those specifications can be found on the Fodera website.
  11. They are really good basses...well balanced, nice J-ish neck, well built...more than just Alembic copies...
  12. I know my brother has got me a Valeton GP-5. We spent today with the in-laws, we'll see them tomorrow. Looking forward to trying out some NAM pedal captures in the loop of my GX-100.
  13. Some money, a voucher for my local commercial fishery, and a book about words by Susie Dent. But the stand out has to be: Bryn Terfel: Carols & Christmas Songs on CD…
  14. May consider a lightweight short scale in trade/part trade.
  15. Just the right time to buy this, before the GAS challenge for 2026 starts.
  16. Today
  17. This is an amazing bass, I love Sterlings and the 5 is very special. This one looks a peach. A great price too. I'd jump at the chance if had the funds and didn't already have one. Anyone tempted should snap this up. GLWTS.
  18. Nah, Blue Stratos, or Denim. For Men. 😜
  19. See how times, and Christmas traditions, have changed over the years. 50 years ago, an Orange amp in our stocking. Now, an Elf on the shelf.
  20. Jack Daniels, Toblerone, Socks... It's almost like he has been watching me... Son got a Behringer Reverb Pedal. He has gone a bit Telecaster and Jeff Buckley of late. I'm sure the Muse Bass will return.
  21. The Precision Bass of bass amps. Just work in every setting 👍
  22. I got a new wallet. Which will never have any money in it as long as I play bass. There. That’s bass related.
  23. Paddy777

    Sire P7

I managed to find this again which suggests it’s a 2nd gen
  24. There's a really interesting insight into the Nicky Chinn/Mike Chapman production line writing of all these Top 10 hits by Sweet, Mud, Suzi Quatro and Smokie. There's an interview with Andy Scott, where he says Tiger Feet was offered to The Sweet but they either turned it down or asked to take it later. Obviously, Chinnichap gave it to Mud. I believe it kept another Sweet single off #1.
  25. For pure self indulgence I have quite fancied a 10 stringer when I was playing in a folk band, but now would have no musical opportunity to use one. Having looked at a few 8 stringers on line some have the octave strings above and some below the main strings and i wonder what is the benefit of each? My simplistic guess would be fingerstyle would be below and pick playing above.
