  1. Past hour
  2. You weren't far wrong 🤣 It's taking a while for me to pull myself together, not helped by having to be at work in my proper job at 8am this morning. Ouch. So.. yes. Matty Healy! Sting! Lewis Capaldi! The latter two were closely-guarded secrets, and genuinely took the audience by surprise. The bad news: they did self-contained performances that didn't need the house band, so I didn't get to play with them. The good news: they were amazing, so I didn't give it a second thought. We did two shows, each around 3.5 hours long (it isn't just music - there's comedy and that too.). We opened the show with Chris Rea's 'Let's Dance'. As well as being a bit poignant, it also captures the essence of the show and fits the band line-up perfectly. We had loads of dancers on stage, and it was a real high-energy start. From there we went into a reel called Rakish Paddy, again with the dancers aided by a quick costume change. After that, Cuddy's Cave, a beautiful musical poem... it's a love letter to the region by the wonderful Nev Clay. Over the next few hours we played songs including December 1963, I Can't Make You Love Me, Always a Woman and Hit the Road, Jack. It all went swimmingly. Of course our special guests grabbed all the headlines, but that's fine by me... the charity is going to benefit massively. Need to sleep now, 'cos we're doing it again in 2028. Here's a clip of the finale:
  3. I only use a gang harmoniser for a few things, but I would say I never have thought a single BV sounded wrong or weak. Its a lot better than just a normal solo singer.
  4. Some great advice on this thread. I'm now building my patches with a divider sending half the signal to a bass amp and the other half through a guitar amp and blending them. The more I use it to build patches the better it's getting. There's still some oddities, like there's one patch where no matter what I do I can't switch the overdrive on and off using a pedal assign... So I just don't use that anymore and rebuilt the patch elsewhere.
  5. Awesome bass! I have the same model in dark red, though I think that the black looks better personally. Congrats!
  6. Boss need to get the UI from Headrush, it's so much more intuitive. The bass presets are pretty shocking too, they need to recreate all the bass presets off the GT-10B for the modern pedals, they were largely excellent and usable.
  7. On another side note i've just joined a blues rock band from Edinburgh area. They've seen me play with the Glam band so no audition required they said. They were just happy to get me the BL said. Guitarist is a mad Gary Moore fan so that should be fun. They seem to be aiming for that Eric Clapton, Cream, Gary Moore style of Blues Rock which can make for some nice interesting basslines. Dave
  8. Got a good gig coming up this weekend Daryl at The Ferry in Glasgow. Not the best paid but its a venue we've tried in the past and got offered a support slot for silly low money and we said no. This was originally a friends gig but they had to cancel and offered to put us forward for it. When we heard what they were getting paid we initially said no. The venue then called me and asked if we could compromise a bit to similar Glam bands and we decided to give it a try. Its an old ferry that used to cross the Clyde and now converted as a venue. Not been in it before but friends that have played there said its pretty well run gig plus you get free food and drinks after sound check. Only downside is we have a Status Quo support band so that'll be interesting as we don't usually have support bands because of the costume before we go on means we can't arrange the stage when they've finished. The venue have taken that into consideration so we'll see how it pans out. Dave
  9. Apologies, yes, I did mean the plastic coating
  10. Go now - Moody Blues
  11. Tbh all the presets are horrible. I just made my own clean patch and never touch the others!
  12. 5A sounds like a cross between a foghorn and an organ. A bit like the spaceship in "Close Encounters". 5C is along the same lines but with several halls' worth of reverb added. Is it switched into bass mode?
  13. Don’t stand so close. Police
  14. Not forgetting their sampled appearance on Eminem's 'My Name Is'.
  15. This popped up on my FB feed last week. The owner knew nothing about it and was asking the bass group he posted it in as to why it has two control plates and knew nothing about the bass really. Can't recall if he'd been given it or found it in a sale, or something like that. Only showed that one photo of the front of the body so no one answering really saw the full condition. I'm also guessing from his post he'd not had it long and had never played it or dismantled it.
  16. Thanks Geoff, We should probably continue this conversation via PM. I'll message you.

  18. Lolita - Stereophonics
  19. I kinda sensed that.😉 That's why I added the word "contributory" to my reply (meaning in a positive sense.) 😜
  20. To be fair, when I have been testing the system, I did run the tops flat and that gave a pleasing sound. One of the issues is that the Typhon 8AXF speakers have significantly more power than the single sub, so it would be necessary to pull back the volume on the tops a lot compared to the subs. I will be taking both subs next month.
  21. Set of D’addario Chrome flatwounds, gauges 40-100 and cut for 2+2 headstock. I bought them off fellow Basschatter @vinorange in January but have changed my plans for the bass in question so I haven’t even unpacked them. Link to the original advert here: Just looking to get back what I paid, which was £15 collected or £17.50 including postage in the UK. Cheers
  22. Ah .. a sight for sore eyes 😜
  23. Trans-Europe Express - Kratfwerk
  24. I didn't say, I'm all good for the date change. Sadly, everyone else's eardrums won't be afterwards.
  25. Does everyone hold the new BB235 in equally high regard? I would like a backup P/J 5er and always had a soft spot for BB’s. It’s either that or a Sire I think. Si
