  1. Past hour
  2. Pole piece spacing maybe? Or maybe the casing size? Fenders sometimes have different size J pickups.
  3. What's the new nut made of, solid gold? 😂
  4. Confusing isn't it? The simple answer is that most amps nowadays are using pretty much one of two or three power amp circuits and just about every manufacturer offers a class D amp which gives 300W into 8ohms and 500W into 4ohms. They don't all sound the same but all of them will be loud enough into almost any but the smallest speakers and most speakers will be able to handle that power. The straighforward answer is that you can choose from any one of those amps and you wont break the 4x10's you are using in the rehearsal room. When you get to gigging any one of them will do the job with 90% of the speakers on sale. If you are using a Peavey 4x10 you don't need to use a Peavey amp, any brand will do. I like and own a Peavey Minimax whch has a good range of sounds but the best thing you can do is try a few of these amps out and see if you like them. We all have different tastes. If you want a simple version of the technical stuff then try this. Some speakers are much louder than others with the same amp. This is measured in how many decibels of sound you can make with one watt. Most bass speakers will vary between 90db/ W (not very loud/efficient) to 103db/W (loud) Each extra watt can only add to that sound level, ten times the power adds 10db and doubling the power adds 3db, so a 100W amp with add 20db to whatever the one watt figure is and 200W will add 23db. To work out how loud a system will be you need to know the power of the amp and the efficiency of the speaker. Either on its own won't tell you anything, you need both numbers.
  5. The slab board would be the biggest giveaway for me as a non expert
  6. @rwillett I'm not sure what she'll do but we might bring one of the mutts along as I'm sure she'd like to have a walk around the lovely countryside. I'm sure she'd like a slice of pizza but I did promise her a Greggs veggi sausage roll from the service station en route! It's a shame that I have this operation and I'll probably won't be able to drive. Otherwise I'd bring the campervan up and make a weekend of it. Sadly, it's something my wife won't drive due to its size.
  7. Tough situation, but the very very best guitarists I’ve played with ( and drummers ) have not been loud , in fact , they have been surprisingly soft and we always try to crank them up in the mix . I am in a similar situation, good mix in the rehearsal room , but come gig time , and suddenly the guitarist brings out the heavy artillery and we can’t hear the vocals , the drummers beating the hell out of his kit , and I’m staring at the ceiling hoping it doesn’t sound too krappy . As Steve says , I just suck it up , as bass players are easily replaced .

    Darkglass Anagram

So would the exercise be a way of getting some cash back but maintaining functionality you need, or are you looking for something else from the Anagram? I've snapped back to my senses somewhat and realised that the QC does everything I need and risking a switch to a lesser unit on the basis of its size and bass specificness would be a bit of a risk. I'd definitely buy the Anagram out of the two if I didn't have the QC, but i've not seen anything yet that would justify a switch. I'm more just frustrated at the lack of bass focus with the QC.
  9. Very nice and useful bit of kit. Glwts

  11. Smoothhound wireless system, 2.4GHz band. Works perfectly, comes boxed with PSU inside and instructions. A bit more sophisticated than the plug-n-play stuff, but just as easy to use. I'll post at cost (less than a fiver I'd expect) or pickup from Uxbridge area
  12. Yes,I did see that but wasn't sure what Brian's assertion was based upon? Perhaps a confession from the seller, or more photos not posted here?
  13. This?
  14. That's nice of your Missus. Is she going to stay with you or wants to do something for herself? Clapham is a vast metropolis full of wonder and variety, nah, thats not it at all. If she likes walking, then it's great. We have fabulous walks literally on our door step. Also mountain biking is big here and you can easily spend eight hours just taking the trails within a few miles of us. If she likes studying sheep, then we are the centre of the UK for sheep. We have so many sheep, she'll fall asleep counting them. That just about exhausts Claphams attractions. Settle is 15 mins down the road and is lovely but small, Kirkby Lonsdale is 15 mins back up the A65 and is quite delightful but not much bigger. Clapham village hall has free GB wifi with B4RN so she can stay connected. If she wanst to do something specific, PM me and I'll help advise. Dogs are exceptionally welcome here, all the pubs welcome them otherwise they would have no business, a fair few restaurants, shops and cafes do as well. My dog will pop into the village hall at various times during the day. The village hall has a vast quantity of chairs and tables, I suggest we put you in the middle so we can rally to your calls of "Boy, that bass over there to me and quick now" as fast as we can. Sadly as it's GCSE and A level time, both my daughters are revising so they can't wait on you hand and foot. I'd suggest you bring your own cushions. Will she want food, zero issues if she does? Rob
  15. Nice! - Tempted.....
  16. Is this the same one that was for sale alongside an Epiphone Thunderbird on here last week for £75 for the pair? Looks to have the exact same blemish on the headstock. Curious to know what work you carried out on it?
  17. The problem is doing a sound check to an empty hall and then finding out it was different with people in.
  18. I once compared the DI output of my MarkBass Nano 300 with the bass signal that I was feeding into it, by recording both to my DAW and listening back to them. With the EQ set to ‘flat’ I couldn’t discern any difference. I don’t think the Class D power amp would impart any coloration, which would leave the speaker cab(s) as the main source of tonal colour.
  19. Thanks Chris
  20. Sounds good to me mate 👍
  21. I have the twin, awesome bass. Enjoy it!
  22. Today
  23. I'll be having my foot operation on the Wednesday before the bash. I'm having the metal plates/wires or whatever removed from when I had my accident. I'm not sure how immobile I'll be so my poor downtrodden Mrs said she'll drive me up there if needed. I'm hoping (and most probably hopping) it won't be too bad and I'll be able to stand on my own two feet but I might need to be seated and have basses handed to me on request to drool over. I'll still be bring my gear along. Also. If anybody wants a good (Bass Direct) shipping box please let me know as I have a couple here that are taking up space. Also, also. We are both veggies. Can't wait!!!

  25. Spot on Brian, it does show two things, firstly how easy it is (or could be), and secondly that people are willing to do it. Be on your guard folks, and remember that vintage guitars = antiques = shit loads of money and shady practices
  26. Anagram doesn’t have a phaser currently, just an FYI
