  2. You're forgetting one very important aspect: A carbon rod is passive. A truss rod is an active part. If you dial a curve into a truss rod it compensates the tension of the neck much more than a carbon rod that just sits there.
  3. Bottom Of The World - Tom Waits
  4. I have just bought Ash's hofner - a perfect transaction, comms and delivery.
  5. Actually I just really like the neck, can I buy just the neck?
  6. That is cool, but the solid-body Sahara is even cooler: https://lindoguitars.com/product/lindo-sahara-electric-bass-guitar/
  7. Now that's a proper band. Not enough bass players, though. Nice to see Tal, too.
  8. Also pound for pound my choice would be an inactive material. Look for Sr, not Zn. That watch may have had a Radium based material.
  9. ☝️😁
  10. I would've thought carbon is stiffer/stronger than steel or ti (hence why we use carbon for F1 cars, space shuttles etc). But I will defer to your expertise.
  11. Thundercat, Tal Wilkenfeld, etc
  12. Anyone out there own an Electra jazz bass ? I’ve already got a Cal VS (p) and a basic (mm) was considering the electra to finish the trio, not really a jazz bass guy but like the tone occasionally. Seems like a great instrument

    Sold sorry!
  14. I just took my double bass on a train. Wouldn’t attempt it again.
  15. As a relative newbie I’m just finding my way. Struggling to get a consistent overdrive sound so I’m layering them up to suit what I play. Not all successful but I’m getting there. Sorta addicted to the Ampeg preamp……
  16. Upside Down - Diana Ross
  17. Dancing on the Ceiling - Lionel Ritchie
  18. This is the advert for the introduction of the reissues, showing all the colours available. 😃
  19. Love the look of this one! What kind of music do you use the front pickup for? I only use it solo'd very very occasionally. Rounds are sacrilege on a Wilcock but it does sound great so.... we'll let it slide this time 😉
  20. Guyker told me that they will be coming out with some ½" lightweight tuners at some point this year. I've heard their hardware is pretty good.
  21. 😂 Actually this is quite funny. I think the post adresses how the subtle hints to the qualities of the product are put into words. This is how they do it over there. Just like politicians before an election - anywhere, actually 😏 For what I expect from a product description this is a bit over the top but I am not into heavy metal.
  22. I used to wear my grandfather's old wristwatch to school. When we studied radioactivity in 6th form and got out the gieger counters, the front face of that watch gave a reading as high as the sources we had taken from their llittle lead-lined boxes. There was virtually nothing through the back as far as I remember. The watch got lost in the late 80's 😥
  23. Today
  24. Thank you - I can't find a Bossa bass anywhere in the UK. I have another Bossa guitar that was Brian Monroney's (Tom Jones etc) and it's my #1 💛
  25. At the start of this post I said I'd just had a custom fretless made but as we'd just gone on a three year posting it didn't make the journey and spent it's time in the UK only getting played on the odd trip I made back. Well, now we've moved back to Europe and the bass is with me and in fact is the first time I've heard it plugged in. I've waited 3 years to hear those custom weather report pups! Of course it sounds as good as it plays. Just need to find a band to play it in now.
