Will it be an upgrade?

I think we all have to make our own decisions on whether we do a charity gig. In response to the question about ‘are the bar staff doing it for free?’ I’d say that the majority of posters on this forum are in a much more secure financial position than the average bar worker.
-
I would imagine so.

Reviving an East German Mandolin
upside downer replied to Mediocre Polymath's topic in Other Instruments
As someone who relishes having a go at making cigar box guitars and baritone ukuleles and the like from bits and bobs that I have kicking around I enjoy seeing the various processes involved in repairing old instruments and getting them back to a playable state again. Nice work, bravo -

I think the way forward on this is: Band Question- are the bar staff being paid Organiser/Venue Answer - yes (as obviously they will be) Band Response - our expenses for this will be the same as what one bar staff will earn for their full shift

Not used on all recordings. And frankly you don't need the same thing live as you do on a recording. I don't there are many people who couldn't play at a blues jam, but maybe quite a few who wouldn't want to!

The 'poly capo' block in the helix is about as good of an octaver as you'll find and the model of the oc2 is appropriately and authentically terrible, so you'll be well covered. Much obliged!

I don't think it needs a refret. I replaced the pre-amp with a very cheap one last year which isn't fantastic, but the bass is only worth a hundred quid at most. I'm better off moving on to a better new bass. I did put Gotoh machine heads on it which I'd probably fit to a replacement Ibanez.
-
Retired ? Due to fret wear ? If you like the bass and there's not a serious neck issue then get a refret. Preferably in SS.
-
Rubbish! I hope you both find it has been worth the wait!

Initially I found him intolerable and typically clickbaity as is typical with modern social media. However after listening to him a bit and some back story, he seems very humble, and a working class lad with no pretentiousness, also he says what he thinks without any brown nosing. I'd happily have a beer with him.
