Mine was rewired by Martin Nash (RIP) who was on here some years ago. Martin and I became friends via a lot of Shergold and Hayman dealings and email chats. I bought the bass from eBay from the original owner’s widow. When I opened it up to have a look in the control cavity I found a note and wiring diagram…..from Martin! Must have been fate - I told the original owner’s wife who was amazed at the coincidence. She also told me her husband had been in a Joy Division/New Order tribute and that the bass had been played by Hooky at a local gig. Here’s a pic of Martin’s diagram…

I'm still using my Marshall 90's rig for large shows with 1 or 2 410s (dependant on how far I have to carry them lol) It sounds absolutely immense and the 7400 dbs is the only head I've found that can deal with a wah pedal properly. For smaller shows I use a TC bh250 and 410, but it does lack some of the heft (LOL) of the Marshall. I used to have a Hartke LH500 which was great, but I never really got on with the eq -

BC Rich Usa models rarely seem to come up, but even some of the older Japanese ones don't seem to appear often. Warlocks are quite frequently seen in the wild, as are the occasional eagle and mockingbirds, But I have yet to see another Ironbird for sale (usa or import) for many years - I picked mine up on here courtesy of @Cosmo Valdemar. Subsequently, I've had messages from all over asking if I would part with it. There are two 'holy grails' that I've been in search of for many years - A Wave and a Bich. In fact if I did find one I would seriously consider the sale of relatives -

You have to make sure that it's trying to load http:// and not https:// - Chrome has an unfortunate tendency to change everything to https://, Firefox is more subservient in that respect.

If this were me i'd be buying the Sessioncakes for sale in the classifieds, they will give you the most versatile setup and each will work as a solo practice tool as well, for 20 quid each i'd consider it a no-brainer. (i have no connection to the seller other than buying a bag from them a few years back) SC-01 SC-02 Matt

This was going to be our Saturday but it’s been cancelled… bummer! I organised the spring and autumn festival last year but as I’m leaving post next week it was organised by others. Well, what with one thing and another, the posters went out very late so very little uptake. Shame really as it would be one of my last gigs. The only upside is that we’d be setting up in 45c heat, which would have been a bit much. Still, next week is our last Friday and all my musician friends are coming along and we’re having a big jam at the our Brit club. Should be a good blast. I’m getting everyone up from the 5 bands I’m in for the last number… a giant jam of superstition. Actually maybe we should start that first as it could take all night!

Pickup on mine is strong so it may be a faulty one or wiring issue. The Eastwood ones seem to have a generic humbucker. It didn’t sound like my original at all.

What a really fun, learning thread! Isn't it possible to hire OK cabs where you are playing? I might always take a pre-amp with me plus my bass, but I would always vote fro hiring in backline at an overseas venue.

Almost all modern aircraft are pressurised including the cargo compartment and are kept at a reasonable temperature above 0C. The cabin altitude is about 8500’ maximum at cruise level, with a rate of climb normally about 500 feet per minute and descent around 300 feet per minute to be kind to passengers’ ears (especially as you don’t get the boiled sweets handed out by the cabin crew any more). I don’t know how sealed “sealed cabs” are, but if you can put one in the back of a car and take it over the Alps or the Rockies without it exploding, then it shouldn’t explode in an aircraft either. I won’t guarantee that though, as I say, I don’t know how well sealed the cab is. I guess that the high-end cabs like Barefaced are delivered to foreign climes by airfreight, although again, I don’t know. A flight case would be essential to prevent the curse of the baggage handlers IMO.

Brought some cases from Bassdirect. Two cases came in a single large Mono cardboard box. These will easily take a bass along with the case and a lot of packaging. Third case came in a guitar sized box. Both boxes very strong and I'd actually send a guitar or bass in a decent case in the boxes. They are very good. They are free for collection from North Yorkshire near Settle, though I am in Leeds on Sunday and will happily bring them along if somebody is interested. Seems a shame to waste them and send them for recycling. Rob
