    Picked this cracker up on here a few months back, played it for a week long run of Sister Act the musical in the theatre, sounded amazing! But I’ve grabbed the Ken Smith Burner that BassBros had listed so this has to go. £850 posted in the UK 🙌 Ultra J Essence Bass is one of the most popular brands at the moment, having won an award from the prestigious Bass Media (Bass Guitar Magazine).     Remasters don't affect the levels of the instruments or vocals of the original. You need a remix for that. Having said that, adjusting the EQ and compression levels, which is pretty much what a remaster is, can enhance some elements slightly which can have an affect on how they sit within the audio spectrum. Its very subtle though and very subjective and usually defined with very nebulous phrases i.e "a little more air around the cymbals" or "slightly more authority in the attack" or similar. Check out the Steve Hoffman audio forums for further examples- and there are thousands- of audiophile nonsense.

    Perhaps its all in my head (but I’m sure it isn’t) that the USA ones simply do sound and feel better. The materials and components on a USA jazz and the build quality genuinely are higher. The modern ones much more so than the vintage ones (of which I have owned a lot of). I appreciate they’re basic designs and you’re certainly paying a premium for the brand over something like Xotic, but god knows what I’d do with a preamp like that! None of it really matters to 99% of the population, of course. My backup bass for double bass gigs is this £150 Bronco - which is fantastic.

    Agreed. And the CNC machine can't account for wood density or other variables. We were talking about this the other week on Mike Brooks' channel, where Warwick made several examples of the same model bass from the same tree, and they all still sounded very different to each other.

    It's been a few years since the BBC had a great set-up on iPlayer from Glastonbury, I can remember when they seemed to have basically every act from the main 5 or 6 stages available to watch, can remember seeking out lesser known bands and finding their full set.

    I've owned American Fenders and I've owned Squiers and I've enjoyed both to some degree but can't see any "magic" with the USA made stuff,but you mustn't interpret this as "they're crap" They're not crap. CNC machines work indiscriminately regardless of where they're plugged in. In this day and age I find it hard to believe there's a magic formula to bolting together two pieces of wood with just 4 screws and a thin metal neckplate is all I'm saying. The marketing machine would have us believe otherwise but really?

    Up for sale is my Boss RC-600, it's an absolute beast of a loop pedal. I used this for a masters project and it hasn't been touched since! Excellent condition, boxed with power supply. Looking for £295 including postage.

    A cracking mixer, I have one myself. The app is very intuitive too and not complicated. (you can download the app and have a look around it without having to connect to the mixer) Have a bump on me and good luck with the sale.

    It’s all relative of course, but I don’t see Oasis inspiring that many kids nowadays. It’s going to be filled with middle aged men like me.

    What's interesting to thois debate aren’t the few people with extreme views either way, it's what range of instruments/ brands do people with experience of many basses typically think. One guide could be this thread: Most seem to have a broad selection including a good sprinkle of Fenders. There are a few who choose one maker, or even one style.
