  2. Lovely. Simply lovely...
  3. It's interesting this thread was revived just now, because I've been asking myself this question a lot for the last two weeks. My car is dying and needs replacing soon, and financially it comes at a bad time so I figured I'd need to let a few guitars or basses go but I have a hard time deciding which ones: I quite like the range of different tones in my arsenal, but I barely have an active band anymore and little desire to find one. So realistically, I could do with very few instruments. When I ask myself "Which one do I play the most?" the anwer is usually simply "The most recent one I bought". I have a few favourites that are very versatile but don't excel at one type of tone or character, and I have a few with a very defined character that do a certain tone very well that I happen to like, but it's usually the latest acquisition that gets played the most. Currently that's my Fender Mod Shop Jaguar. I know I have too many because a few of my guitars and basses mostly stand in my rack unused. When I do play those they always bring a smile to my face though: because of how they sound or play, or because of memories of former bands and gigs. My left-handedness adds to my hoarding instinct, because I have found that seller's remorse is a right pain in the butt and lefty guitars and basses are extra hard to replace because they can be so rare. It took me 10+ years to find two "identical" guitars to two I foolishly sold once. Would I risk that again?
  4. Your forgetting there stuff under the top layer….
  5. Must’ve cost him a fortune to keep pursuing this.
  6. If you ever run your passive bass straight into a passive DI, or indeed through some true bypass pedals that are not engaged, then there is a chance that the passive di box will load the pickups on the passive bass down to a point where this can be heard. If you can hear it, then there is a chance that you do not like the tonal change. The physics is a given but whether it's audible depends on the pickups and the di, and whether it's a bad change depends on the player. In those situations an active DI alleviates the issue. If you have some pedals that are NOT true bypass, or pedals that are turned on, or anything else with a buffer like a wireless unit or an active bass then a passive DI will not experience those loading issues. Actually it will, but just so much differently that you can't hear it. In short you would be fine with either. I don't think your pedal is true bypass, and it won't matter either way if it is turned on. I did a comparison of an £8 and £150 passive DI box on here a few years back if that helps you. The superficial differences in sound were not meaningful to my ears, but worth noting that the LBP certainly feels better made etc. I still have several nice DIs including the Radial Stagebug 2 that would be my recommendation for someone to buy, but I always reach for the LBP if I want passive or my 20 year old Countryman for active. The only times I really use a separate DI now is when we're working with an external sound company and I want to protect my Quad Cortex from an unknown PA system, that's nearly always the LBP's job.
  7. Hmmmm... just looked on the BA Systems page and their systems all pretty much seem to be flying the flag for sticking a box on a pole above a sub, one on each side. Is that not contrary to every bit of guidance that we all read about and agree is NOT the thing to do? Just saying!
  8. iSpot plug of interest in a trade ?
  9. Mr Zero is way ahead of you… I bet it was comfy though.
  10. Caught a band in Brighton a few years ago… the bass player was playing a Ric through a Trace with a 4x10 cab… and the tone was absolutely perfect. 👍
  11. Sweet P Brian 😎
  12. And stop desperately seeking money, he better seek Susan. 😉🤔😂
  13. We've put out an album of Huey Lewis covers imaginatively called, The News.
  14. I bought this very recently, brand new either gig bag, case candy etc.. it is a truly gorgeous bit of kit, but after using it for a couple of practices on a couple of songs is not for me. It is in as new condition, has a set of LaBella White Nylons on (plus will include factory strings) I paid £949 plus £70 for the LB’s, If a fellow Basschatter wants it, I would let it go for £749.00 Cheers Stuart
  15. ***PRICE DROP NOW £1300*** 2010 US Stingray, 2EQ, CAR with rosewood board. One of the limited edition 133 basses, full fat ‘ray but with a soft gig bag case instead of a hard shell job. This is in excellent condition with one very minor ding on the top edge, and the pickguard is quite marked but obviously easily replaceable. Comes with a Hipshot D-tuner (long key though instead of short… doh), if you want the original tuner key I’ll chuck it in. I’ve also replaced the pickup with a Nordstrand MM4.2, which sounds flippin’ great. She’s quite heavy (10lb) but with a decent wide strap it feels ok. ***EDIT*** now comes with the option of a Warwick Rockbass semi-rigid case - photos added. Loathe to post this but can at buyer’s (insured) expense, or can meet in person at either Portsmouth, Southsea, Southampton or Lymington (I’m on the I.O.W.)

  17. That's very kind of you to offer. I guess I'd have to somehow find out if it's actually there. I'll investigate. Thank you.
  18. Belly at the Camden Electric Ballroom on Weds night, playing their album King start to finish on occasion of it being 30 years old, plus a second set of favourites Gail Greenwood is always excellent value for money as a performer 😎
  19. And the annoying chrome bezel is gone too. I found it's removal made mine far, far more playable. Lovely colour combo with the AG and gold. GLWTS
  20. I'd replace that couch too, my eyes! 🥲 Lovely warwicks, a 5 string NT is still on my bucketlist.
  21. I suspect he needs to learn to accept he lost the case for valid reasons
  22. I was at an open mic night where a Blue Acoustics systems was used. Without doubt the best sound I have heard from any similar sized PA. Good shout.
  23. I'm not a million miles away from Chorley. If there's anything I can do to help....
  24. It's a complete myth that originals bands' gigs are poorly attended. Over the past 25 years the originals bands I have been in have had no problem attracting audiences. And if they are it's down to the bands not being sufficiently entertaining musically or visually, and/or too disorganised or lazy to do the required promotion. And in those cases they only have themselves to blame.
  25. Sold two items here, 1; EBS Session combo. Service Xpress 48. Currently resting in Chorley, Lancs PFW hub, where it's been for 10 days with no further movement (assuming it is actually there and not in the local cash converters or a bin, in pieces) Just refunded the buyer having initiated a claim. 2; P.bass. Service Xpress 24, dropped off at local Post office, tracking had no movement at all. Popped back to local post office yesterday and guess what? it was still there after 5 days. Apparently, ParcelForce hadn't been to collect anything for nearly a week !! At what point was I actually going to find out or be told? After much wrangling and proof providing, they gave it back to me and I took it to a main office yesterday afternoon. Tracking now says "Delivery today" Luckily, I'd sold on BC where folks are understanding but it's still embarrassing. You really can't make this shit up.
  26. I’ll take offers on this as I’ve got stuff to pay for. at the studio tomorrow night bump
