  2. I think I'll commission a tort bass with a black plate. 🤔
  3. This is a really good preamp pedal! Good luck selling it!
  4. To be fair, the bucket in that venue can be quite worthwhile. I used to play there several years ago with a hard rock covers band for £150 plus the bucket. The bucket was always considerably more than the basic fee! Oh, by the way, no one cares if its a three-piece, four-piece, five-piece or eleven-piece! You get paid to generate value for the venue (i.e. bring in people they can sell beer to). No one cares how many band members are on the stage, just if they can entertain the crowd.
  5. Well, you're the one who declared yourself out, I'm just going by what you said. I don't even know what one of those is, except what the words mean. Can you give us some detail about what it is and what it is used for?
  6. £200 is pretty normal for a pub gig here. Anymore and I’d be thinking about giving up the day job! Well, I would if I wasn’t retired….
  7. Hmm, neither is a MIDI controller *technically*, can I get a steward’s enquiry on this?
  8. £200? Is it the 1970s?! 😂
  9. Hi. Here’s my 2010 USA Musicman Stingray 5HH in excellent condition. No damage or signs of wear apart from some really thin cobweb like lines on the pick guard which dont show in the photos even, so will probably buff out. Just one very shallow mini dimple on the back of the body. My lamps make it look worse than it is, to be clear. So only a 9.9/10 for condition ! Excuse the conservatory roof reflections (the parallel lines) and there’s a palm plant too. Better light though. This bass plays both beautifully and thunderously depending on your preference with the 5 way pickup selector and powerful 3 band preamp. All the electronics perform perfectly. Everything works as it should and the alnico pickups give a rich variety of useable tones. It’s a very responsive and dynamic bass in tip top condition and priced accordingly. The frets have most of their depth left and were professionally dressed just after I bought it. See the close ups. They were polished today and I only had to use a little oil to clean the fretboard today so this bass is ready to do the business for you. New battery too. It has a lovely smooth and dark rosewood board. Shiny gloss black finish over the ash body. Nut width 44.6mm 66.6mm at 12th fret String spacing 17.5mm at the stainless steel saddles. D’Addario 40-125 roundwound nickels. Weighs 4.55kg , 10lbs 1/2 oz with the lighter original metal black knobs and 4.6kg, 10lbs 2oz with the chrome ones. Nicely balanced with a strap in either case. I’ve had it nearly 10 years but need to raise some funds now and recently got a 4HH Special so that can take over now. I bought it used in 2016 but it’s only had minimal home use in that time as my other basses need playing too. It’s all stock apart from the chrome knobs but I have the original black ones if you’d prefer them. Both photod. Price reflects the excellent condition and perfect working order. It includes the original Musicman Stingray 5 hard case and insured UK Mainland delivery costs but I will send it further afield if you contribute the charge beyond UK mainland. Thanks for looking.

  11. Well, someone's gotta be first. Congratulations!
  12. I guess it is, although maybe I didn't consider it as I have much better effects in very small pedals on a pedalboard, but I can see they could be of use to some. I have a 12 step on my pedalboard that connects for synth effects. I can't see how an XY controller would work well on a screen on a remote device when playing the bass, but interesting to watch someone do it!
  13. I understand your curiosity ! but I'd rather not do it myself since the ramp seems to be securely attached to the body. I mean I don't think there's any problem removing it but perhaps during a routine visit to a luthier ? Thanks for your comment!
  14. Not quite sure where to post this query, but here seemed as good a place as any! We've been asked to connect to the house PA for a forthcoming gig and they've provided us with a couple of pics showing the set up, and they have a connecting cable provided. It looks like they'll be providing a TRS --> xlr cable to connect our desk output. I'm guessing that the cable will likely be balanced mono (and a not a stereo) TRS, and therefore will plug into one of the aux outs from our desk? Does that sound correct?
  15. Dave rehomed my mic gooseneck, flawless as ever, he's a lovely chap so he is.
  16. Indeed. I have the 10-track "J.O.N.5" edition in my collection:
  17. Did we ever get a Uke bass thread? Did I miss it?
  18. Today
  19. Not in the signal chain, an accessory. I don't think it counts.
  20. People put tort plates on just about any Fender colour now because it's become synonymous with the nebulous concept which is "vintage". Historically, Fender did indeed ship most of its custom colour basses with mint/parchment pick guards. Bear in mind that most colours except sunburst were actually custom colours, including black. Some black Fenders were sent out with tort plates, but usually only as customer's special orders through Fender dealers. That's why finding an all original vintage P Bass or Jazz Bass in black/tort is so hard. They do exist, but they are very, very rare. But if you look at Fender's vintage reissues you would think they were commonplace.

  22. Aargh I sold mine and still regret it. Sorry to hear about your situation. Amazing preamp.
  23. Hot off the back of last year’s triumph I have had a tier 1 failure this year, as I bought a Chocolate MIDI controller pedal in the first week of 2026. Ah well, there’s always next year!
